Las Vegas,Grand Canyon,Sedona
Any suggestion, I plan on flying into Las Vegas, husband, two kids 11 and 13 yrs.Staying 2 nights at New Frontier, drive to Hoover Dam and staying 2 nights in Grand Canyon staying at Red Feather than heading to Sedona for 2 nights and last night at the phoenix airport.
Any comments or suggests of places to stay or visit while we make this trip would be greatly appreciated.
I was thinking of taking a river ride while at the Grand Canyon but it doesn't look like we have a lot of time to do that. Is the closest river ride in Paige?
We are leaving soon.
Many Thanks

There are a lot of things to see and do in northern Arizona. I would post a link to a great list on another travel board, but when I have done that in the past, my post somehow gets deleted. But if you will send me an email, I can send you that list. And here are a couple of the things that are on the list.
Of course, go through Oak Creek Canyon on the way to Sedona.
The two children will love Slide Rock State Park, in Oak Creek Canyon.
Take a drive over to Jerome.
Do go see Walnut Canyon, just east of Flagstaff , off I-40.
Lots more, with clickable links, so just send me an email for the list.

Many ppl recommend the 1/2 day float trip out of Page but it's not thru the Grand Canyon at all and will eat up your little time in the GC.
Type "Grand Canyon" in the search box there and you'll find a wealth of info from past threads in the forum. Same with Sedona I'm sure!

For lodging in Sedona we like the Sky Ranch Lodge. It is up on a hill near the small airport, so that, if you get a 'view' room you look across to the red hills. Also, it has gardens and a nice pool, and is away from all the tourist hubbub down the hill.

Well, now that this board has the capability to have clickable links, you should post the list here as well so everyone has access to it.

In case you don't know. the entire Coconino Forest (which encompasses all of the trails in Sedona and Oak Creek Canyon area) is completely closed (hiking, day use areas like Slide Rock, etc.) until the area gets enough rain to bring down the fire risk. No Pink Jeep tours on the trails (I hear that they have on road tours to take you to some Sedona sites, but not their typical trail tours).
Hwy 89A up into Oak Creek Canyon going towards Flagstaff and Grand Canyon is still closed to visitors from the Brins fire that is still not 100% contained (it is 65% contained per the last update last night). That 89A closure may change in next few days. Here is the wqebstie to check daily for updates on road closure, etc.:

Apparently you can not see the burned out areas from Sedona proper (and the smoke has subsided) so other than those closures, the city is a fine place to visit now.

I'm sure you realize you'll be doing plenty of driving. LV to the Grand Canyon will take 4-5 hours. I don't see how you'd have time to do anything out of Page, which is another 2-3 hour drive. You'll have plenty to see right at the GC. Then your drive to Sedona will be 1.5-2 hours.
I did the same trip a couple of years ago staying four days in each spot and I only wish I could have had more time at the Grand Canyon.

I see on an info bulletin posted last night on the Arizona 211 eneregency site that hwy 89A from Flagstaff to Sedona has reopened to the public!!! The site says you should still monitor the opening as it may close again if a hazard exists. The number to call for status updates is 928-226-4601. They are asking people to drive slowly through there w/lights on.
The fire is 100% contanied. But the forest is still closed.
