Traveling in June to Las Vegas for 4 days - would also like to do side trip to Grand Canyon/Hoover Dam -- any advice? (on LV or GC)

There are tours from vegas to the hoover dam. I dont know if you can tour or need to rent a car and drive to the grand canyon. When i went i flew in to vegas and rented a car drove to the hoover dam and then to the grand canyon. Check and see how long of a drive it will be..time could be an issue. but the views are worth it.

There have been a few discussions on this lately -- search for grand canyon to see.
If you drive yourself to Hoover Dam & the canyon you really should plan to sepnd a night in Tusayan (just outside the canyon) if any rooms are available -- they get booked up early. You could try inside the canyon but that gets booked up even earlier.

All the major hotels in Vegas have info. on tours of the Grand Canyon. I booked a plane/helicopter tour at the Flamingo last year. It was about $250 a person, winter rate.

If you are planning on drive to the S. Rim you are looking at 280 miles and about 5 hours of driving ONE WAY! I'd suggest spending at least one night at the Grand Canyon or at nearby Tusayan.
