Which casino has the best gambling perks? My brother and his wife earned credit at restaurants and against the room bill with a gambling card. That was at Caesar's and they aren't big gamblers. They also get coupons in the mail for free nights on future visits. Anybody know anything about The Venetian's?

You must sign up for the Players Club or whatever each hotel calls its membership thing.

The trick is to do all of you gambling at one place so you earn credit there.

Always use your card when you gamble. You can usually check your point accumulations at kiosks.

Further from the strip will give you better comps. Try downtown places like Las Vegas Club, Main St Station, etc. Then the cheaper strip properties like Imperial Palace. The major properties only consider table play @ $25/hand or greater. Slot play is always counted and is more valuable toward comps than table play. The Venetian will be one of the skimpiest on perks. Always use a players card if you meet the minimum table play reqs but never raise your stakes just to earn comps because you're only losing in the long run.

How much do you plan on gambling? You will get credit for playing at the Venetian but you have to do a good amount of gambling to get anything substantial. The Venetian actually isn't bad when it comes to comps. I play predominantly .25 VP (with some $1 VP also)and slots and get 2-3 nights of free rooms plus some slot and dining credits. However, I play quite a few hours per day (probably end up gambling about 8 hours every day).

The problem with going to some of the cheaper places is - who wants to stay at those places if it can be avoided?

Can't remember all the hotels involved, but last year when we stayed at the Flamingo, we signed up for their players club (I think it's called Park Place something or other)and could use it 4 or 5 other casinos who are all part of the same club. Flamingo, Caesar's, Ballys, Paris and I think even MGM were all part of the same group. We weren't big gamblers by any means (quarter poker and $5 BJ) but we managed to earn $10 off our room rate and some food comps and a couple of t-shirts (woo hoo).

One way to put things in perspective: in order to get 2 free nights at Venetian purely based on comps the average gambler will well over $1000.
The casinos dole out comps based on percentages of the estimated house 'take' from each gambler. They can calculate how much the avergae gambler is likely to lose over time, then they'll return a small percent of that as comps.
But a comped room at Venetian will 'cost' well over $500 per night if you only look at the money which changes hands. If the gambling is fun and the drinks are good, then that's included in the price.
