Las Vegas-early 30's nightlife
Yay! DH and I will be going to Vegas for a weekend in January (a surprise for him). Although we've been many times before we haven't been in 2 years and I'm looking for advice for nighttime. Heres the deal. We're early 30's but "party" a lot more than most our age. Probably not into dancing too much (mostly DH isn't) but also not into uppity, snooty, coat-and-tie lounges, either. Not huge fans of jazz or "dueling pianos" at all. Like popular current music, dance music, etc. Also, do NOT want to wait 2 hours in line. That said, we are thinking Venus for sure...just not sure where else. We've been many times to Studio 54 on a Tuesday night, not sure how it is on the weekend.
Any suggestions? TIA!

I am your age and I enjoy some of the lounges in the various hotels, not really the dance clubs.
I like Zuri in the MGM Grand (a small lounge with killer martinis), and I also see they have a new trendy lounge called Teatro that just opened.
Also, I like Caramel in the Bellagio and Mist at Treasure Island. They are both very trendy and upscale, but there are no velvet ropes or cover charges.
Also, try Red Square at Mandalay Bay. It's a restaurant and a bar/lounge, but I would recommend just going for drinks. Some of the best vodka in the world can be bought there.
Apparently a very romantic "old school" Vegas lounge is the Peppermill, but I have not been there. Also heard V Lounge at the Venetian is amazing. You may also want to try Tabu at MGM Grand.
I will be in Vegas next week, so I'll post when I return with any other places I try when I go.
Hope this helps.

The V Lounge was okay when I was there. Very South Beach minimalist trendy.
My favorite place is The VooDoo Lounge on top of the Rio Hotel.
The Hard Rock is always hopping and Rain at The Palms is another but I'm sure there will be a line on the weekends.

Elizabeth-thanks for the suggestions! We are definately planning on Venus...and we've actually been to V Bar-it was ok...snooty and uppity, not quite our scene. Let me know how your weekend goes and what you do! Oh-had actually heard Fireside at Peppermill was cool-may check that out.
GoTravel-have been looking into Voodoo today-for a possible dinner spot. How is the food there? Will the deck be heated in January?
BeachBoi...VIP passes can be bought but I don't know that we are down with spending that kind of money for more than maybe 1 club.

You're welcome, Ani. I actually have heard the Fontana Lounge in Bellagio is very nice and upscale, and they do have nightly entertainment and a great view of the Bellagio fountains.
I am sure there's bound to be something of that nature in Caesar's too, but I've not spent enough time there to know exactly what type of clubs/lounges they might have. I know there's Shadow, which is supposedly pretty good, but I have not been there.

The food at the Voodoo Lounge is very good. It was one of the better meals we've eaten while in Vegas. It's not on the same floor as the nightclub, I believe it's on the floor below it. You get a really good view of the city.

Thanks! Have been to shadow..(it was ok and super spendy) and to Rumjungle which was good. I've made reservations at Voodoo for dinner-then no cover to head up to the bar afterwards. Thanks again!

Topping as we leave in just over 3 weeks and still haven't decided on nightspots. We've had fun several times at Studio 54 on Tuesday nights, but this time we'll be there over the weekend and not into the meat market scene. Want to check out Venus at The Venetian but hoping to hear a review or two.
Elizabeth-any suggestions from your trip?
We would love some bar/lounge type places but not a huge fan of super overpriced drinks and uppity atmosphere, jazz, etc.
Suggestions! I need suggestions!

My wife and I (early 30s) have been to Venus amny times and I must warn you that it has changed. Went to LV, stayed at the Venetian the Weekend of 11/11-11/15 and was very disappointed with Venus. Very local crowd has taken over. The crowd now is very young and very "cliquish." Around 2am fights started between various factions that included door security. Maybe it was just that night, but they also hadn't opened the south side of the bar where the dance floor was.
We had a really great time across the street at Tangerine in TI. Just tip the doorman at the club and get whisked in. Also Forty-Deuces at Mandalay Bay is great for a risque time.
If you really want to surprise him, try one of the various strip clubs that practically cater to couples such as Treasures or Crazy Horse II. Surprisingly, the girls at both places prefer "entertaining" other women.
Have fun & happy New Year!

Best Bar/lounge - Red Square at the Mandalay Bay and the Foundation Room at MB for dancing and you may spot a celeb or two, however I think it is only open to the public Monday night.
Light at the Bellagio. Many night clubs charge $20 for the gents and most ladies are free.

Thanks!
Travelin: Unfortunately DH not too into dancing-we're kind of over that whole scene...looking more for a party atmosphere that doesn't have the rave type feel to it.
That said, thanks Lobenz for the Tangerine suggestion...we were looking at going to Mist as well. I would LOVE to avoid cover charges and lines...

Hi Ani, I will ask my hair stylist what the newest, hippest places are when I see him next Friday and report back to you.
The Red Square is a Russian themed restaurant with an excellent ice bar and lounge, great architechture. Will check into other-type places not too rave-ish
Lines will be hard to miss because travel to LV is the highest it's ever been.
I do know that Tabu Lounge at the MGM is supposed to be good, and it is not a night club with dancing.

Sorry for the trip post, and the Foundation Room only has one small room for dancing, it is broken up into a series of lounges, and the balcony that offers spectacular views of the strip at night.
