Las Vegas Dinner Restaurants
 

Name your top 3----we're looking for suggestions.

We'll be at Bellagio for 3 nights.

We've been to:
Mon Ami Gabi (Paris)
Prime & Sensi (Bellagio)
Tao & Canaletto(The Venetian)
N9ne(The Palms)

Have any of you dined at Aria restaurants?
What do you think of Bartolotta's at The Wynn?

My sister and I were just in Vegas a couple weeks ago and had a couple of really excellent dinners. We always like to try something new so this was our first time at these places.

Carnevino - Mario Batali/Joe Bastianich's Italian steakhouse. Rather pricy but it was excellent. The best thing of the night was the lobster 'crudo/cotto' appetizer - the tail was sashimi style and the claw (one claw, I guess they kept the other) was fried in a light tempura style batter.

Lotus of Siam - I've been hearing about this place for years but never had a chance to go. It's not too far off the strip but you'll either need a car or need to take a cab to get there. It's Thai food but it is different than the Thai food that I typically see at home, so it was nice to try new things. Delicious and very reasonably priced.

Okado at Wynn has fantastic sushi. Have tried most of the big sushi places on the strip, and this one is the best.
L'Atalier in MGM Grand is really good. I still dream about the mashed potatoes. They often have tasting menu that can help bring the price down a little bit.
Michael Mina in Bellagio. Great tasting menus.

Estiatorio Milos at the Cosmopolitan is one of the best Greek restaurants in the USA. The room is gorgeous and you have an option to sit in an semi enclosed patio overlooking the Strip. The food is fresh and simply prepared. We took advantage of the 3-course $20.11 lunch. You can see photos of our lunch by reading my recent trip report. Here are the menus:

Jaleo is also in the Cosmopolitan, but it offers amazing tapas and paellas in a casual atmosphere.

L'Atalier and Michel Mina(is that the seafood restaurant?)--I'm looking into.

The first night we arrive late and always go to Mon Ami Gabi across the street at Paris.

The next 2 nights are wide open and we usually like higher end places for a real treat.

Was in Vegas this past weekend and ate at Bartolotta. We had the mid tier tasting menu and it was AMAZING! Very expensive but if you can swing it, it's worth the $

Also ate at Stratta at the Wynn and it was also very good.

3rd dinner we ate at Mesa Grill at Ceasars (Bobby Flay's restaurant). It was good but not a "must do"

We did 2 breakfasts at Mon Ami Gabi and both were great

Ate lunch at Todd English PUB at Aria and it was delicious, also highly recommended

I am following along closely and appreciating all the input (even though this is not my thread!) :)

I'd vote for Jaleo or Bartolotta's

What about The Verendah at The Four Seasons? Or Beso at the city center?

Otherwise I'm leaning toward Sage(looks gorgeous), Jaleo(I like the tapas idea), Michael Mina(Bellagio restaurants are all great), Okado(my daughter likes sushi, bit I don't, will I like the other food?), or Wolfgang Puck at Ceasars(I don't know why?)

Bartolotta's would be #1 on my list, but I'll save it for a trip with my husband.

Maybe to honor it as the first celebrity chef restaurant in Las Vegas? I've eaten there a number of times, both in the Cafe part and the restaurant. Always have a good dining experience there.

I just have to add another possibility----Botero at The Wynn---I really like the menu----anyone?

tom42----glad to hear you liked Spago. It's always on my list, but we never seem to get there.

TPAYT, since you're looking at so many different restaurants you might find this site useful. The author has reviews from over 90 restos in Vegas that he dined at, many mentioned in this thread, and I've found his advice to be spot-on for every place we've tried. He actually responded to your other post, btw, but is apparently too modest to tout his own site so I'll do it for him.

I don't know how old your daughter is but if she's a teenager she might like Sugar Factory at Paris. If you order a sundae though for dessert keep in mind it's very large. They have a cute candy/gift shop too and it's very reasonable.

WOW!!! =D> that is the best restaurant review post I've ever seen. The details are just what you need to make a decision. We eaten at some of his Paris choices and agree with him, so I think we have the same taste.

DebTS----thanks for the thought, it sounds like a great dessert place, however my daughter is old enough to be going to LV on business and taking me along----all that expensive education does finally pay off! We may have to hit the gift shop at the Sugar Factory for the 2 grandkids though.

You can thank lgott (Fodor's username) if he posts again, he's the Larry that's the source of all this great info.

In addition to all the restaurants listed can anyone advise as to a nice outdoor restaurant for a special celebratory dinner in August. looks like Mon Ami Gabi with it's view of the Bellagio Fountains might work. Any other ideas?

minx: I just posted this on TPAYT's other thread asking about outdoor dining but I'll say the same in answer to your question:

I like Mon Ami Gabi but for a view of the fountains, Olives at the Bellagio is even nicer. The patio seats at Olives make you feel like you are practically sitting in the middle of the fountains, while MAG is across the strip with all the traffic in between.

Both restaurants are good, but Olives has a little more of a "wow" factor with the patio seating. I saw one couple that looked like they were there for a proposal.

Neither takes a reservation for patio seating and may require a wait. For Olives, go early to get put on the list for patio seating, and then come back when they tell you.

We're back!

We chose Mon Ami Gabi for the first night, as usual and again it was great. We barely made our 9pm reservation as the line at Belliagio check in was extremely long.

It was still very hot outside so a bottle of cold, crisp, dry Rose was a perfect choice, along with 2 tasty salads(a ceasar and a butter lettuce with beets, apples, and goat cheese.) The steak bernaise and steak bourdelaise were thin and cooked perfectly with those crispy frittes.

The "highlight dinner" was at Botero at the Encore. Here's my review on Trip Advisor under "Stunning."

We ate at Mon Ami Gabi twice this weekend and it was superb!! Would highly recommend it and have! Make sure and have the bread and butter! Wonderful!
