Las Vegas Buffets
 

I'm going to Vegas with my father in law and brothers in law this May. According to the fellas, we're only going to gamble and eat cheap at the buffets. Any recommendations in the buffet area would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

There are no cheap buffets at the major Strip hotels if that is where you planned to eat. Prices have gone way up over the years, the days of the $5.99 all you can eat buffet are long gone. I guess Excalibur and Circus Circus (never been to either hotel) would be the cheapest tho, or perhaps Stardust. We do not like buffets (anyplace) and avoid them but do notice the prices when we are in 'Vegas. $25+ is about the range for dinner - more for things like champagne brunch ($31 or something like that at Wynn's). Lunches can be had for about $16, likewise breakfast. I would think the downtown casino's charge less for buffets if you are interested in going down there.

Sahara still has cheap buffet. I like their brunch buffet, but their dinner sucks.

I should have been a bit clearer. We're looking for buffets in order to avoid the $100 dinner tab. We're really looking for a quality buffet that runs in the $15 and $25 range for lunch and dinner respectively. Thanks for your quick responses!

Try the coupons for 2/1 prime rib, etc. I think San Remo's is pretty popular.

My husband would like to go back to Vegas just to go to the Paris buffet. We ate lunch there twice on our last trip. I've heard breakfast and dinner are just as great. But you can also check out much more detail at www.cheapovegas.com and www.vegas.com I think you can probably even get the Bellagio lunch buffet for in the ballpark of $15-20. Wynn also has one, and Mirage is supposed to be good. Luxor apparently has a decent buffet and is cheaper than most. Aladdin is also supposed to be amazing - I think more exotic foods than some of the others.

In any event, you can also eat at plenty of non-buffet restaurants for well under $100 per person if that's what you meant. But we found that eating at the lunch buffet around 11am kept us satisfied until after midnight, when we could grab a snack. So it was economically a good idea, even for the $18 or so it cost each of us.

I highly recommend the buffet at Bellagio's. The food is very good and so is the variety. It is less expensive during the week and should fall within your price range. have a great trip.

Where are you staying and playing? In my experience, father in laws and brothers in law don't like to travel very far for their chow.

Except of course for cousin Eddie, he'll come 1000 miles if we invite him over for lunch.

This is an insider tip.

Go as late as you can to the lunch buffet. That way you'll be there when they change over to the dinner buffet and you won't have to pay the extra cost. Also take the free bus from Harrah's to the Rio and save a $20.00 taxi ride. The Rio has a great buffet.

If you have a car, the Palace Station (off-strip, but not far) has a really good, inexpensive buffet. Their weekday breakfast was only $5!

If Stardust is still there in May, their $10 prime rib was pretty good.

We enjoyed the Rio buffet laast trip.

Agree with Bobrad about going for lunch and paying the lunch price and then staying for dinner. $25 for dinner is very do-able with most of the buffets, especially if you're going to be there during the week when most of the buffets are cheaper. The Wynn and Bellagio are our favorites. Some other good ones that we like that are a bit cheaper are Mandalay Bay, Paris, Mirage/Treasure Island, and Aladdin.

I agree with the others that if you want cheaper than that, Excalibur and Frontier aren't bad. Main St. hotel in Downtown is pretty good too.

My whole family goes to LV every year (brother, sister, parents and grandparent) we do a good buffet together every year...our favorites have been the Bellagio, "Craving" the buffet a Mirage and the Paris buffet...all three of those will probably cost $18 lunch $25ish for dinner...also if you are looking for an inexpensive but good casual restuarant to grab a great lunch-the brew pub at monte carlo is my favorite!
