LAS VEGAS:Best stay at Luxor or N.Y.,N.Y?

We are taking a 13 and 11 year old to Vegas. Which is better for kids, the N.Y. or the Luxor?

I'm not sure which would be better for the children but I would rather stay at New Your New York.

Why not consider the Hard Rock Casino & Hotel. It is smaller, the children would love it--especially the pool if you will be there in warm weather.

Pool has sand beach, and rock music piped under-water.

I would also consider a suite ( if at Hard Rock) the children would have a cot or cots in the livingroom with separate bath( no tub or shower in 2nd bath) pleanty of room and all suites overlook pool and city skyline and have 2 balconies....if you want children separate, you can get a suite for yourself with adjoining room.

I was in Las Vegas with kids this age last year. NY.NY wasn't open but it looked great. Luxor is an awe-inspiring building that will fascinate kids and grown-ups alike. But the best spot for kids was the theme park behind MGM Grand Hotel. That theme park has light crowds and some great rides for older children. My 13 yo and 9 yo went around and around on the great river raft ride. There also were some good theme shows that the kids like a lot. You won't miss staying at Luxor, NY NY, or MGM they are all within walking distance. I did feel a little squeamish about my kids being around so much adult excess, the theme park and Hoover Dam were good reliefs. Have a great time.

My wife and I were at the Luxor in Jan and I would not recommend it. Lots of construction taking place, we lost power for more than 20 hours. No showers, no lights in the rooms etc and no help fromt he hotel. Staff said they were not doing anything to help guests ie making showers available in the fitness area etc. They were supposed to comp us a night' stay and we are still wiating to get the $$$ have gone back and forth. Not a friendly place. NY NY is nice but was extremely busy. MGM might be a god choice for kids. If they reallly want to see the Luxor attraction IMAX etc it's only a short walk away.

Recommendation: DON'T stay at the Luxor. We just got back from Vegas where we stayed at NY, NY. It is a huge hotel and there's lots to do, but with kids, I'd rather stay at MGM. Much more there to occupy them. Have fun!
