Las Vegas - Best Shows with Kids?
Hi all!
We are starting our 2-week trip through Utah and Colorado in Las Vegas at the beginning of May. We'll have our two young sons with us (ages 5 and 7) and will be spending two nights there. We will be staying at the Tahiti Village. I can't seem to find anything on these forums about this resort - any feedback? It seems like a family-friendly atmosphere with a nice pool area (good for enjoying some pool-time in the non-Canadian weather : ). I know that there are many topics on here about best shows to take kids to in Vegas, but most of those threads are pretty dated at this point (most are from over 10 years ago, and none more recent than 2-3 years ago). Since things change often with shows in Vegas, I thought I'd try for some recent recommendations? We'd love to see a circus show, a Cirque du Soleil show, a magic show... which are kid-friendly and fun? Thanks for any input! Jenn |
They would enjoy the Blue Man Group or any of the Cirque shows. WE have seen both Love and Mystere...just find one that is convenient to where you are staying. It really doesn't matter as they are all good! There are also several magic shows, but I will let someone else comment on which ones are appropriate for your young children. We were there last summer, enjoy!

Thanks! My boys love the Beatles and so I was thinking about Love... I just didn't know if the show was appropriate for young kids (particularly because the show doesn't start until 7:00, so it will go kinda late). Did you take your kids with you?

IMHO five is kind of on the borderline of being able to sit still and quiet for an extended show. Only you know your kids attention span - but unless you are sure the younger will be enthralled enough to enjoy the enforced lack of activity I might be hesitant to spend so much on show tickets. Also a shorter show would probably work better than a longer one.
(FYI Broadway shows don't allow kids under 5 at all just for this reason.) |
Love is an awesome show.

I'd take them to either Tournament of Kings at Excalibur (which is at 6 and includes food, making it more appropriate for little kids) or the dog and cat show at Planet Hollywood (which I've actually seen and which is charming and done in the afternoon). I love Cirque shows, but I'm not sure little kids will be able to sit through a whole show; these are fairly long performances. If your kids love the Beatles, then perhaps Love. I also like Mystere and O, and I think those are the most kid-friendly.

I agree with Doug's recs. The Tournament of Kings would be perfect for your boys.

We did Tournament of Kings with our kids many years ago. It was a good choice for them but a little blah for us. But with kids in Vegas you definitely have to make some compromises.

All of these are great suggestions and I'll look into them. Any suggestions for a magic show? Our kids think magic is pretty cool and so we thought it'd be a good opportunity to have them see a magic show - but definitely want it to be an age-appropriate one! : )

I actually reserved at Tahiti Village for my parents when they were in town. I visited the room and thought it was a very nice studio apartment. Certainly for the price it's a good deal, and it's nice to have the kitchen since you'll have your family with you.
My parents were happy with their stay there, but they didn't use any of the amenities like the pool - it was substantially just a place to sleep for them. The only small thing they mentioned was that there was no linen/towel service during their stay. I think it's because the units are more like apartments than hotel rooms. I am sure they probably could have paid extra for maid service. For shows for kids, I saw Love and I enjoyed it. I didn't find it to be very long (no intermission or anything). The show seemed appropriate for children presuming your youngest would be comfortable sitting through it. I had friends who took their son (around age 8) to the Tournament of Kings and he loved it. They also went to "V the ultimate Variety Show" and apparently he loved that too. Hope you have a great trip! |
