Las Vegas -- Barbary Coast Hotel

Can anyone tell me if this hotel is closing, being demolished, etc.? If so, when? I am considering this hotel, Ballys' or Flamingo for DH's 50th birthday. (I posted earlier about LV hotels in general, but have narrowed it down to these three.

AFAIK, there are no plans for Barbary Coast to go away! www.cheapovegas.com hasn't said anything about it. I do know that the Stardust's days are numbered, though. Barbary Coast is a smaller place, without a pool, but you can't beat thecenter-strip location. Also, the rooms are decorated in Victorian style.

I've stayed at the Barbary Coast and have been very satisfied. It's a small hotel with a great location for the strip. There are seldom long lines at the desk and the walk to the room is short.

I just got an e-mail from Flamingo this morning with special rates. Sorry, deleted, but check their website.

The Barbary Coast is owned by the same company that owns Sam's Town, Stardust, Orleans, South Coast, Sun Coast, Main Street Station, Fremont, and California (as well as the Borgata in Atlantic City). Have I forgotten any?

It is a small but prime piece of real estate that I'll bet they would NEVER be willing to part with. There are no plans that I know of to close the Barbary Coast.

Recently, the crummy hotel behind the Barbary was closed - Bourbon Street. Good riddance! It's possible some may confuse Barbary and Bourbon since they are next to each other and both start with "B".

When I stayed at Bally's, we had a friend who stayed at Barbary Coast. He said it was basic, but clean and very acceptable. And he payed $69.- plus tax while we payed 119.-

I think Gold Coast near the Rio and across from the Palms in another one.

I believe one of the posters is confusing Sam Boyd casinos (Sam's Town, California, Fremont, Stardust) with Coast Casinos (Barbary Coast, Gold Coast, South Coast, Orleans).

In any event, Barbary Coast DOES have nice rooms.

No, I'm not confusing Boyd and Coast. These two companies merged some time ago.
