Las Vegas area RV campgrounds

Have already used lots of info from threads here planning a trip in August from LA to San Francisco via Grand Canyon, Page, Bryce, Zion and Yosemite. Looking for help please on where to stay for a quick look at Las Vegas while we're in the area. Is the KOA campground at Circus Circus a good option? Could we park the RV somewhere and have a night or two of luxury? Or are there campgrounds within reasonable reach by public transport... We're not interested in gambling just the spectacle.

There is a very nice Thousand Trails RV park just a few miles from the strip. Check out their web site, www.thousandtrails.com.

We stayed at the Circus Circus RV campground a couple of years ago. Nothing really special, just a large, clean parking lot with a small store, laundry facilities, etc. But it is on the strip (right next to Circus Circus). If you're just looking for a place to park for a couple of nights, it does fit the bill. And you're right, the best part of Las Vegas isn't the gambling, it's the atmosphere, the people, the buildings, (the spectacle).

Thank you both. Thousand Trails looks good but you seem to have to become a member to stay there. KOA at Circus Circus will probably fit the bill although am also considering Oasis RV resort campground. Any views on that one? Have heard that there's been some noisy building work going on. Does anyone know if it will be finished by August?

Sorry, wish I could be of more help, but I'm only familiar with the one at Circus Circus.

We have stayed at Circus Circus campground many times. It's like a big parking lot but perfect I think for the city of Las Vegas via the strip. Try and get a spot closer to the Strip...not as much walking.

Coming back to your spot will be easier as they do have a bus of sorts..our dogs loved it there too..

Thanks all. Have decided to try Oasis, despite possible building noise, as it seems to have some grass and perhaps a little more space than Circus Circus and can use shuttle from there.
