We are flying into Las Vegas and spending two nights ( one full day) in Las Vegas and then trekking over to the Grand Canyon and then down through Sedona and ending up in Phoenix.
Can anyone give us insight into staying on the strip vs staying off the strip like in Henderson? If we do stay off strip is driving in and parking a problem or is parking readily available. OR if we decide to stay on the strip what is the hotel that will benefit us most. We are all adults. We are not gamblers at all.

Stay on the Strip.
We stayed at the Aria last December and really enjoyed it (we don't gamble).

Have stayed at the Paris Hotel in the past and DH has also stayed at the Venetian (too big) and the Bellagio. You can quickly get a feel for the different hotels on TripAdvisor.

I agree with staying IN Las Vegas. We don't gamble and have enjoyed staying in Caesar's, The Venetian, The Mirage, The Bellagio, The MGM, and Paris (the hotel which is not like the city but you understand).

My "insight" is you do not need to gamble to enjoy Las Vegas. I have never thought any of the hotels are "too big" but that's obviously subjective as IS "which one is best for..." YOU.

If you decide to stay off the strip, most of the casinos have free parking in garages.

The strip is longer and the sidewalks more crowded than most folks think before going there which is part of the reason many recommend staying mid strip so you can get back to your hotel when you need a rest.

Maybe I should qualify why DH thought the Venetian was too big. From the from entrance to his room was close to a half a mile walk and involved a couple of elevators.

Parking in Las Vegas is no longer free at MGM properties including those staying in the hotels. The self-parking fee at Aria, Bellagio, Mandalay Bay, MGM Grand, Mirage and New York-New York is $7 for vehicles parked between 1-4 hours and $10 for vehicles parked between 4-24 hours. The self-parking fees at Excalibur, Luxor and Monte Carlo are $5 and $8 for the same time frames. Valet parking will cost $13-$18 at the former hotels (plus the Delano and Vdara) and $8-$13 at the latter (plus Circus Circus).

One viable option is staying the 2 nights at Green Valley Ranch Resort (GVR) in Henderson. It is an upscale resort with numerous options for fine and casual dining. The resort adjoins the District that includes more restaurant plus shopping. Getting to GVR is relatively easy from the airport and you will avoid traffic congestion on the Strip not to mention being closer to the Grand Canyon. Both garage and surface lot parking is free at GVR.
