Las Vegas Agenda
I am making my first trip to Las Vegas at the end of April. I will be Ariving on a Monday afternoon and leaving Wednesday morning, which gives me just a day and a half. I thought that I would like to see a show the first night and have a nice dinner the second. Any suggestions? I will be staying at Bellagio. Also considering that I will just have a day to see Vegas, any recommendations on what I shouldn't miss?

It is hard to see everything in just a day and a half. <BR><BR>As you are at the Bellagio, you should definately watch a few of the fountain shows. If you are facing the Strip, you can do that from your room as the music is simulcast. There is an outdoor patio bar between Prime and Picasso that is great spot for drink.<BR><BR>You may want to walk down towards Treasure Island for one of the Pirate Ship Battles and then head to the Venetian to check out the Canal Shops.<BR><BR>If you want to see a show, you can't do much better than "O" at Bellagio. <BR><BR>You can also take a tram from Bellagio to Monte Carlo to check out NYNY and that end of the Strip. A tram also goes from MGM to Bally's (which is directly across from Bellagio.)<BR><BR>With the limited time you have, I'd save a visit to Downtown LV until the next trip.
Sorry, meant to say that there are several good restaurants at Bellagio. Prime and Circo were both good on my recent trip.<BR><BR>For a true Vegas experience, you might want to have at least lunch at their Buffet. It is one of the best in town.<BR><BR>FYI, Monday is usually a night where most shows are dark. You may have to wait until Tuesday. If you want to see "O", call the hotel now for a reservation.

You and your wife will love it. I took my wife there in August and she still jokingly talks about going there on any weekend we have free. <BR><BR>I think the high point for us came when we had dinner in the Eiffel Tower. I won't say much except that I remember looking down at everything and thinking how insanely wealthy this country is and feeling that it was invincible. Then came 9/11 and I now look back at that night as one of the last moments of innocence.<BR><BR>I'm sure whatever you do, you'll have a blast.

Steve: "I took my wife there" Is it still the 1950's where you live? Get with it.
You actually have time to see 2 shows, because they run 2 per night, usually at about 7 and again at 10. I would recommend "O" to my own friends above anything else. Second, I would go for Mystere or Danny Gans. However, you should also call the hotels to find out if they are doing any 'broadway' shows or have any special entertainers that week. We saw Chicago on one trip and it was great, with a first rate cast. You can do an early dinner both nights without rushing and then go to the 10 pm show. If you are staying at the Bellagio, they can help you get the best seats for "0" and Mystere. The breakfast buffet at the Paris is terrific. I would time dinner so that you have an hour or so before the show to walk around outside. The fountains at the Bellagio are gorgeous at night, and the Volcano at the Mirage is fun too.

I 'took my brother' there the previous year too for his birthday, paying for his flight, hotel, meals, gambling, etc. What would that be, 'brotherism' or something like that?<BR><BR>Don't tarnish the women's lib with anal retentive remarks on semantics.<BR><BR><BR><BR><BR><BR><BR>
The sad thing for me is that someone brags about being in the "Eiffel Tower" and it doesn't bother them that it's in the desert rather than France... Sigh.
Steve: A husband and wife relationship implies a partnership of equals. It would have sounded sooo much nicer to say "My wife and I went to Las Vegas". Your brother on the other hand is not a partnership relationship and therefore if you paid all of his expenses, you did in fact "take him". See the difference?
the downtown lights show is cool but the area around it is old skool. worth a try if you dig the classic vegas experience.<BR><BR>by the way, that eiffel tower in the desert got props from the french government, not a lite endorsement, know what i'm sayin? turn down the heat 'libby', forum's supposed to fun.

To say "I took my wife there" is not a 1950's comment and you are taking this comment way too seriously. For example, if in fact a trip to Las Vegas was a present, then to use the phrase "I took my wife" is prefectly acceptable. <BR><BR>You might consider that making an issue out of a relatively minor issue dilutes the bigger issues. To say that everything is gender bias may weaken a position on an important issue such as compensation. <BR><BR>Put another way, if everything is treated with equal importance, then nothing becomes important.<BR><BR>
I think you're splitting hairs on semantics but if this is really important, so be it. My wife and I went to Vegas.<BR><BR>Let's focus on helping Don.
Steve,<BR>You know that is really belittling to your wife and so 1950's. It would be so much better to say, I accompanied my wife on her trip to Las Vegas.<BR><BR>Also, WIFE is a term that is really so like 1400's. It is so much better to say "My life partner and I, on whom I am totally dependent and yet allow her to be treated with disrespect by society and I went to Las Vegas." See how much better that sounds!
The term "LAS VEGAS", is it still 1846 where you live?<BR><BR>You know that you stole the land from the Mexcians. To refer to it as LAS VEGAS is an afront to our heritage. Instead, it should be called by its less offensive name "THE CITY WHERE CONVENTIONEERS GO TO GORGE ON CHEAP FOOD AND LOSE THEIR MONEY, NEVADA"<BR><BR>See how much better that sounds.
One show I would recommend is SCINTAS (pronounced shin-tas) at the Rio. It is two brothers and their sister, doing musical comedy. It is hilarious. They are quite talented. I was told it was a must see, and I agree.

Topping for Mary-just ignore the bickering...

topping

What does Topping mean? Does that mean that the discussion is over? And Libby! toots! sweetheart! Why don't you cram it! Infiltrate some other libby site. The goal here is travel. <BR><BR>Here's the perfect itinerary in my opinion:<BR>Day 1: Arrive. Take a stroll down the strip. Start at Paris, cross the street, and hit Monte Carlo, Bellagio (your own hotel), and then Caesar's, Mirage (see the volcano, good restaurant there is Moongate), Treasure Island (see the pirate show). Then cross ths treet and see the Venetian. Gamble a little. Then head back to Bellagio and see the water show.<BR>Day 2: Relax and hang out at the Bellagio pool. It's gorgeous! Then have brunch at the Bellagio buffet - my fave!!! Then see a show: I recommend Mystere. Have dinner at Aureole in Mandalay Bay after the show. <BR><BR>That's just off the top of my head. Have fun!!!

then take your wife back to the room and do the nasty thing with her

And there you have it...
