Has anyone stayed at the MGM Grand? Plan a trip in May, was told not to stay at Emerald Tower. I did not see a mention of the Emerald Tower on website. Thanks

If it's the lowest priced rooms in the place, it's the Emerald Tower although they may have changed the names. Long long LONG walk from everything, especially if you get stuck in the far end of ANY tower. Emerald rooms are small, but bearable for two people.

Try to avoid the Emerald Tower and request a room in the Grand Tower. As I recall, MGM allows you to checkin at the airport. If so, confirm your tower room at that time. the pool area is one of the better ones in LV, and your May schedule should afford some favorable temps.

We stayed there 2 years ago. Enjoyed the breakfast restaurant...very Disney. Not really very impressed overall. Think there are more interesting places. We did taxi alot! Still, had a good time! Belle.

As people stated on one of your previous posts titled, "Mandalay Bay or MGM Grand?" many would take any Vegas Hotel over the MGM.

Personally, I would avoid the MGM Grand like the plague.

hallmarkgal - If you can make other arrangements - do it. The MGM is HUGE and the rooms are tiny, some very dark and dismal. Try getting a room at Paris - very good rates, excellent location and not a HUGE place like the MGM. If not Paris, try the Monte Carlo. The MGM is usually very crowded and filled with lots of kids and it just takes forever to get from one place to another in there.

I enjoyed staying at the MGM Grand.
Part of what I liked was the fact that was big. The walk from the valet to my room and my room to the casino were not long. The walk from my room to the Strip took a while, but I don't have a problem with that. The self-park garage is a long ways away.
I was very happy with my Celebrity Suite, but I don't know what a standard room would be like.
The bath amenities were very nice (and I think that is true for all of their rooms).

Hi all, first time poster here...

First of all, the pools are worth it to stay at the MGM because there are so many of them! The only thing you have to be willing to encounter is children, this is a very family friendly place. I love the lazy river, which is a long pool with rapids thrown in-- but watch out, like I said there are alot of kids, often not being supervised in the water so they can be quite obnoxious. I believe including the lazy river there are 7 pools at this property. The casino is one of the largest on the entire strip. I've stayed in I a Grand Tower room with a view of Palms and the mountains off into the distance. The room was large-ish, and overall I would return for the pools and to stay in this room. The dining is not as a good as at some of the other properties.

I really enjoyed staying (on a different trip) at the Mandalay Bay. We got a room on the 34th floor, with a view of the pools. The 34th floor has rooms decorated in the House of Blues Style and are different than other floor in the entire hotel. I really liked the Mandalay Bay because its the last hotel on that side of the strip, you don't see as much of the rif-raff that tends to congregrate in the strip's center. While it gets a lot of visitors, it's a calming property. The vibe is young to baby boomer at this hotel, with a lot less children. There is a nice assortment of restaurants. We ate at Trattoria del Lupo, Shanghai Lily and Border Grill. It was all really tasty. Although, as someone who eats Chinese often, go to Shanghai Lily for the decor its beautiful with private little booths, the food is not as exotic as I had expected. I look forward to trying the burger bar on my next visit in October.

I have stayed at the Aladdin (avoid at all costs) the rooms are small and dark, location is nice because you are right in the middle of everything and I loved the sephora in the lobby, but the desert passage mall is nothing great and its easy to get lost because the mall wraps around the casino and it's very disorienting. The Buffet is very nice.

Bally's is a good place on a budget. The room was clean large and bright. The casino is small. Not very many blackjack tables as in other hotels.
