Vegas trip for business & pleasure coming up! It's been a while so need some recommendation on fabulous dining {sunset views}, and shows -Broadway, Cirque, etc. for four days.

We saw "O" and loved it. So much to see but we prefer mid strip: Bellagio, Paris, Caesar's, Mirage, Venetian, Wynn.

Unless you want to eat dinner awfully early I think you'll find the sunset dinner isn't possible this time of year - since sunset is around 4:30 pm. And December will be worse.

One option -- afternoon tea at the Mandarin Oriental. Essentially a full meal but just in little bits. Fantastic views and a 4 or 4:30 booking will give you late daylight and sunset/dusk views.

Michelle, glad to hear you loved 'O'. I was going back and forth between 'O' and 'Ka'. The water effects look super cool so I booked it. Thank you.

janis, love the tea idea and the views at The Tea Lounge are so nice so I booked that too!

How about a dinner splurge? I loove the decor at Joel Robuchon, probably as much as I'll love his 16 course, but the price not so much. :) Soo I have tentative reservations at Picasso in the Bellagio. Anyone been?

Friends saw Terry Fator at the Mirage and said he was great. He was the winner of America's Got Talent a few years back.

oh yeah, I love Terry Fator! I didn't follow the show but I've watched him on TV and he's great. I will definitely consider seeing him. Love all his characters. Thanks Michelle.

Dined at Picasso a few years ago-- LOVED it. Worth every penny. And those were a lot of pennies. The food was stupendous, and the artwork is breathtaking! Of course-- they're all original Picassos!

The dining choices at the Mirage and MGM Grand are great. At the Mirage we loved Japonais, FIN and Samba, and at MGM we found the Wolfgang Puck eatery surprisingly wonderful. Emeril's, on the other hand, was a bit disappointing. An off-Strip favorite I'm still trying to get to (some day...!) is Lotus of Siam (if you like Thai). Check out the Vegas section of Chowhound.com; the posters will let you know what's good and what's not in Sin City.

As far as entertainment-- a hearty Yes on <b>O</b>, <b>Mystère</b>, <b>KÀ</b> and <b>LOVE</b>. Awe-inspiring showmanship and stagecraft.

rjw_lgb_ca: of the 4 (O, Mystère, KÀ, LOVE) is there one you would recommend over the others?

For sheer athleticism: <b>O</b>. For trippy showmanship and stagecraft, <b>LOVE</b>. It depends on what you're after that particular night. Of course, if you don't like the music of the Beatles, <b>LOVE</b> is going to irritate the hell out of you, since it's wall-to-wall Beatles music.

Michelle guess what? My boyfriend booked Terry Fator and we're seeing him tonight, so excited!! Turns out he followed the show.

Just need to decide on a brunch spot for Saturday and we are set...

To all those who helped me, just a quick rehash of the trip...

Did not make it to tea time at the Mandarin but we loved dining at Picasso! My bf is a big Picasso fan and was in heaven under all the displayed art. Sat inside surrounded by all the exquisite paintings instead of al fresco where you can watch the dancing fountains.

The tasting menu was divine & so was the wine pairings ...one of the whites was from Hungary, sorry don't remember the rest other than I enjoyed it; bf is more the wine expert and he loved it all too. Champagne didn't come with the pairing but we started off with a glass each which is always fun. The poached oysters was my favorite! Omg couldve eaten those all night. Even if you don't dine there, I highly recommend doing a walk-through of the restaurant just to see this magnificent collection. They also showed us a book with all the art at the end of our meal which we requested to see. Little chocolate & banana muffins were our take home gift packaged in a simple elegant box {2 each}.

'O' was fantastic! I am always amazed how this group can beautifully contort themselves the way these guys do. Ouch. The music was okay but the performance was flawless.

Stayed at the SLS Hotel {used work points} and like any other hotel, always ask if you can be upgraded for free. I discovered showering in the see-through glass in the living room can be tricky if you are not going as a couple but there are drapes. They give you free spins in their casino for staying with them and we walked away $4 richer!

Also listened to some live music at the Sayers Club... great for drinks after a show.

And last but not least, Terry Fator got a standing ovation - he sang, told jokes and paid tribute to Veterans at the end that got me a little teary... but the funniest thing happened when we came back home. I was watching TV and realized something when I saw this other, more 'familiar', vintriloquist. The entire time during Terry's show, I kept waiting for Achmed The Dead Terrorist to come out! Little did I realize that I got him confused with Jeff Dunham!! :))
