Largo, MD

What can you tell me about this area near the new Metro stop on the blue line (Largo Town Center/Boulevard at the Capital Centre mall)?

repete Feb 13th, 2005 01:42 PM

That's a little vague. It's not a tourist destination. If you're looking for a hotel in the 'burbs, there are better options with more amenities nearby.

Like Repete says "need more info" Largo's main claim to fame is the residence of Prince Georges Community College and the former site of "Capitol Centre". It's not truly near too many things - it's sort of near the new Redskin Stadium but not quite that close and there's not really many restaurants very close - a couple motels and a number of subdivisions.

We got a great deal on a hotel and are wondering if there are safety issues. Is it a good part of town? We're across from the Metro and plan to ride in daily.

It's fine but hardly "town": - an upscale residential area full of single famly, 1/2 million dollar homes. Your hotel is also right next to Largo Town Center mall - a brand new upscale open air mall. You'll be at the end of the subway line so count on a good 1/2 hour+ ride each way.

If you're talking about the Doubletree Club Largo, I remember another thread a few moths ago in which a woman had gotten it on Priceline for her husband, had the same worries, but he ended up giving a positive report on it. I'd suggest searching by the hotel name for that thread.

The search directions I just gave you don't work, krd, but I don't know why.
But I found the thread I was looking for in another way, and topped it for you. It's called "BASIC, inexpensive hotel in DC" or something very close to that. The discussion about staying in Largo starts about halfway through the 34 posts and continues almost to the end.
