Lands End- San Francisco

I am planning my last day in SF before moving back to Colorado. I have not made it out to Lands End yet. Looking at the park service brochure, it looks like it has wonderful trails and the ruins of the baths, and all kinds of good stuff.

Can those of you who have been there tell me more about it? Is it an all day experience? Any way to get there via MUNI from the Caltrain station or is that way too complex?

I have had the time of my life in the Bay Area this past year and will miss a lot about California though Colorado is home and has my heart. You Californians have a lot to be proud of in your huge and beautiful state.

The #38 bus route goes from lower Market Street all the way out to Lands End. Others may as well. Check the Muni website.

It wouldn't take all day for me -- but easy to combine with the Presidio as an all day outing.

Thanks janisj, I have been reading old posts which have been great but wasn't sure if anything much has changed over the years.

Land's End is stunning and worth the trip. It's about an hour by Muni from the Cal-Train station. There are several routes, all of which require one change. You can look on googlemaps as well as the muni website. I did the route from Cal-Train to the Cliff House.

Update: I made this trip today. Very easy from the Caltrain station with 2 buses. We spent 5 hours easily between walking on the Coastal trail to the Sutro bath ruins and to Mile beach. Fabulous views of the Golden Gate Bridge. We had a drink at the Cliff House and the view from there is spectacular and then did a late lunch at Loui's , which was pleasant. Highly recommend spending a day here, you can walk for miles along the trail with views of the Marin headlands, the bridge, ocean beach as well as all the container ships coming into San Francisco, sailboats and surfers. Loved it!
