Lanai or Molokai -- worth a day trip?

During our week in Maui in November, we are considering a day trip to Lanai or Molokai. What is there to do or see on these islands?

I think a trip to Kalaupapa - the leper colony on Molokai- is a very interesting visit.
Its been years since I was there but loved the experience. We flew in and stayed for a couple of days because we knew a resident there- you can also take a mule ride in.

Amazing history

There is so much to see and do right on Maui that I wouldn't try this. It would take a whole, very long day.

We loved spending a couple days on Molokai - and also - taking the ferry from Lahina over to Lanai for the day. A beautiful trip plus getting to see/experience "old Hawaii". :)

Check the ferry schedule - but if it was me - I would catch the first ferry (6:45 AM) and then the last one coming back - 6 PM or so - for a great day on Lanai. Lanai has very nice golf and also super snorkeling. Just google away to find out more.

And on Molokai - we drove out to the east end - and hiked in to a beautiful waterfall. Just a wonderful trek through a rain forest. Pick a clear day. :)

Tom - of course you would take the first ferry, you never sleep!
