LakeTahoe Activities for Children

We are taking our grandchildren to Lake Tahoe in late July for 7 days and would love to have suggestions for activities for children ages 8 and 5. Thanks for your help!! Want them remember how fun Grandma and Grandpa are :-)

A few things:

A boat trip from Zephyr Cove. Either the MS Dixie paddle wheeler, or the woodwind catamaran. The catamaran is much smaller so you have a feel of almost being on a private sailboat.

The Stream Chamber - this is a place at Taylor creek where you walk down below ground level (but not actually underground) and can view the fish and plants in the creek.

There is always miniature golf - several courses around the lake

a day trip over to Virginia City. You can take a steam train, tour a mine, etc.

Dear granny:
We go to the Tahoe/Truckee area each summer. Some of our favorites are: Sand Harbor beach for the day, Boomtown Arcade(has carousel etc.), Virgina City, easy hiking, site seeing cruises, eating, shopping in Truckee. We used to enjoy the Ponderosa Haywagon Breakfast, but it closed down last fall.

Have fun!!

How about a Tram ride up the mountain in Squaw Valley for a little ice skating (even in the summer) and a top of the world view? You could also take a gentle raft float on the Truckee in Tahoe City.

How could I forget!! I second the Squaw Valley tram ride with ice skating and swimming at the top. Go early!!
