Lake Tahoe - Wedding In April 2008

I recently got engaged and would like to get married in Lake Tahoe in early April of 2008.

I'm in desperate need of suggestions of hotels and possible wedding sites in Lake Tahoe. We will be having a small group of people and I don't want a hotel that is going to 'break the bank'.

I have found a few places, but I'm not sure that they are very nice. Has anyone heard of the Lake Shore Lodge and Spa? Or have any other suggestions for Hotels (around $150 to $175/night)? Any suggestions on wedding locations would be greatly appreciated also. We are looking for someplace to have a small exchanging of vows, but not really have a big reception - we will probably just head to a local restuarant for a casual dinner after the ceremony.

Thank you in Advance for any help.

Congratulations.

I don't think I stayed at the Lake Shore, but at a lodge just across the main road from the lake. Personally I like the South Tahoe area.

We were married at Lake Tahoe in 1987 at what is now the Tahoe Community Church in Stateline, Nevada. It was a simple church just above the town, but the website says it completed a new worship center in 2003. The minister and his wife back then were nice and were used to out of towners arranging to exchange their vows there.

Getting a marriage license in Nevada was very easy.

We arranged for dinner at the Chart House restaurant for the sunset view. Again, that may have changed in 20 years.

April is low season in Lake Tahoe. Check out the Hyatt Hotel in Incline Village for basic rates. People get married in several spots in front of the lake at the hotel. Beautiful location, and you might find rooms in your budget at that time.

It can be quite cold and windy in April at Lake Tahoe. There is also a chance it could snow.

April can be warm-ish or quite cold/changeable. So I would NOT plan any sort of out door ceremony. April will definitely be off season since Easter is in March and even when there is a good snow pack - ski season generally winds down after Easter. Crowds won't return intil Memorial Day, and many hotels struggle in Spring.

So you might get a nice package rate at the Hyatt at Incline. That would be a great location.
