Lake Tahoe - views

Folks

We want to spend couple of days next week, for a bit of skiing and just enjoying the views. I dislike casinos and would prefer to be as far away from them as possible. Any suggestions on which side of the lake and which properties will work best for us? I would prefer a view of the mountains, and if possible, also of the lake. We tend to like more upscale places but I am also hoping we can find a ski-lodge type place this time. Appreciate any help, as I have only been to Tahoe once briefly and am unfamiliar with the area and the accommodations.

The best views in Lake Tahoe are from the top of Heavenly mountain. But (and it's a big but for you), Heavenly is in South Lake Tahoe which is anything but "far away" from the casinos.

There are no "ski lodge" type places in Tahoe to my knowledge (and I've been going to Tahoe winter and summer for 30+ years).

• what is your budget?

• Next week is between Christmas/New Years and a very busy time at Tahoe - lots of places will have been booked long ago. And any w/ fabulous views will be the first to go . . .

• W/ the recent snows - there will be more crowds so even more pressure onn accomodations.

NorthStar offers beautiful views of the lake and surrounding area. However, the sking at NorthStar is not up to Heavenly standards.

I'm pretty sure the OP was talking about views from their accommodations. That wouldn't apply to Northstar

But there are views of Martis Valley and mountains from some units.

Check out the Hyatt Resort in Incline Village. They have lakeside cabins, tower rooms or rooms with mountain views. Diamond Peak is just a mile up the road, free shuttles run all day long from the Hyatt.

Lone Eagle Grill at the lake is upscale.
