THANKS everyone!
I got a room at Yosemite Lodge at the Falls...it's $70/night more than Yosemite View Lodge. Is the price difference worth it? It's a deluxe room, but I would take a standard room if one becomes available. I have reservations at both places, but need to cancel one soon.

I hope I can do some of the walks/hikes. I recently developed heel pain which is, most likely, plantar fasciitis. I had it many years ago and it took months to heal. Ugh. I have good shoes, so hoping it doesn't slow us down too much.

Between the time of year and the drought, I knew there wouldn't be much water. Hoping for some beautiful scenery, regardless. :D

Outdoor1, just realized I had already bookmarked your TR. Lots of good advice...thanks for all the detail!

I think it is worth staying in the Valley. I guess it depends on how much the extra driving will bother you, as well as being able to just step outside the room and be there with a cuppa coffee in the morning. And easily go back to your room if you need a sit down or quick nap.

I can't compare the rooms for you, maybe some others can.

Be sure to watch for the sunset light on Half Dome from the Valley.

>>Is the price difference worth it?<<

If it fits in the budget - staying at Yosemite Lodge absolutely is worth it in IMO. I've stayed both places (multiple times at Yosemite Lodge).

You don't 'need' a deluxe room but having a balcony and nice outdoor seating - just makes it extra special.

The neat thing about being in the Lodge -- you don't have to touch your car unless you drive into the high country or maybe to Wawona.

Otherwise it is walk or free shuttle buses everywhere. And if you go out for a walk/hike -- to be able to just walk back or jump on the frequent shuttle and get back to you room any time during the day.

Plus sunrise/sunset in the Valley . . . oh yes - definitely 'worth it'

OK, deluxe room at a Yosemite Lodge wins! Couldn't resist the cuppa coffee on the balcony idea and the convenience.

I prefer a glass of wine or a wee dram of single malt scotch . . . But coffee is OK too ;)

Bikes are also a great way to get around Yosemite Valley. I think they rent them at the Lodge and navigate just about anywhere in the valley.

For dining, the Mountain View restaurant at the Lodge is quite good for dinner. Unless you eat at the Ahwahnee you wont find anything better in the park. You can get eat breakfast at the cafeteria, and get lunch fixins at the general store. All are within easy walk of the Yosemite Lodge.

Let's make that "drinks" on the balcony. ☕️
Thanks for additional info, J62.

I haven't written a trip report yet, but wanted to comment on the Lodge, in case others look at this thread.

We were glad we stayed at the Lodge (at the Falls). It was so convenient to be right there, close to everything. It was very warm while we were there, but since our room faced east and was surrounded by trees, it did not get too hot. Someone commented on another thread to get a renovated room. Good news...ALL of the rooms have been renovated. The price is steep for what you get, but the location is great! FYI, we were in the Tamarack building...a very quiet, at the far end of the property.

Looking forward to your report. Hope the fires did not bother you too much at Tahoe.

Tamarack, Dogwood and Aspen are our favorite buildings because of being so quiet and out of the way. Hemlock can also be good because it is at the other end and right by the meadows.
Would love to read to trip report, really glad you stayed at the Lodge. Did you make it to the Ahwahnee for breakfast?
