Lake Tahoe temps in the Summer?
Hi - I am thinking about a summer trip to Lake Tahoe. We really hate the really hot weather because we like to hike. I have looked at averages on weather sites and it looks like they stay around 80 or less. can anyone tell me if this is accurate and the usual thing? Thanks, sue

yeah it is, plus low humidity

I was there last August. It's on the warm side during the day, maybe even higher than 80, but without the humidity, it's fine. Just remember to bring a lot of water. It cools off alot at night too.

Tahoe City reaches an average daily high of 77 in both July and August...the warmest months of the year.
Of course it's cooler than this as you hike up the slopes. And the humidity is quite low. |
sueoz,
Just remember that you are at altitude, 6,000 feet or so. 80 at that altitude can feel warmer than say 80 at 1,000 feet. Also, because of the altitude, you may have to break in to the hiking gradually to acclimate. It's a beautiful area of California. Enjoy!! Curious |
