Lake Tahoe-North Shore

We will be spending 3 Days at the Hyatt early June. Interested in Boat Rental, Hiking, and other outdoor activities. Any Advice on the above would be appreciated. Also would love recommendations about your favorite restaurants. Thank You. Sharon

Just driving along the lake is terrific, stop and enjoy the views. Any of the restaurants in Harveys which is now Harrah's is good.

The hike down from the road to the water at Emerald Bay is terrific.

Driving around the lake is a good full-day activity. Stop along the way at whatever interests you.

In addition to hiking down from the parking area at Emerald Bay there are two other short hikes to see great sites.

1. Cascade Lake and Falls: Park at the end of the road in the Bayview Campground. Take the pretty easy trail to the leftish. It will take you above and around the lake to the falls.

2. Eagle Falls: This trail starts at Eagle Falls Picnic Area, highway 89 across from Emerald Bay. Permits are required on this hike and a self-registration station is at the trailhead. The hike is only about 2 miles round trip to Eagle Lake (only about 1/3 mile to the falls); the terrain varies from steep to flat and crosses beautiful Eagle Falls on a steel footbridge.

Zephyr Cove has a marina with all types of boat rentals.
Also, the Dixie Queen dinner cruise is very enjoyable on the lake. It goes to Emerald Bay and back.

In Tahoe City, we like the Hacienda for Mexican (the mango margaritas are fabulous), and the Chinese restaurant (can't remeber the name) is good. The sushi place at Squaw Valley is good, too.

We stayed at the Hyatt Regency, it was a nice hotel...

For restaurants, definitely to to the Lone Eagle Grill (you need a reservation). It's just beautiful inside, and the food was amazing! My husband still raves about the steak. It's definitely not cheap, but worth it.

The buffet in the hotel is ok, worth it if you don't want to go too far.

Do take a cruise on the Lake that included Emerald Bay. The Tahoe Queen and M.S. Dixie are two that I have taken that I would recommend.
