Lake Tahoe House Rental

We will be visiting Lake Tahoe area second week of June and looking for a house to rent. We will be two families with adult children, 8 or 10 in our party (depends which kids decide to join us). We would love to stay in a woodsy area or lakeside. Our preference is to be in a quiet area. Our plans include biking, hiking, rafting and some time by the lake. Leaning towards North Shore. Any advice on nice area or houses that can accommodate us would be appreciated.

Incline Village, NV. Donner Lake near Truckee.

Have you tried VRBO?

You requested a house, but if you're interested in a large condo, we liked this place:

It's a condo-hotel, with free covered parking, a pool, and a front desk. It was very reasonably priced when we stayed there in June.

Also - some smaller condo units will work as well -- two condos in the same development might be more comfortable/convenient w/ more space.

What is your budget?

Thanks for the suggestions so far. Our budget is around $300/night. I don't know if that is unrealistic. We do prefer to stay all together. We might consider a condo if it offered additional amenities such as a pool, spa, gym or game room.

The condo I recommend above has the amenities you want, I believe. It is not secluded or lakeside, though.

It is right next to Squaw Valley Village, so people could walk to restaurants and shops.

You can also take the tram to the top of the mountain, for the views. There's a vintage bar & restaurant up there, and memories of its Olympic status. Don't buy the package deal with dinner, though. It isn't that nice.

There's a great lakeside club for meals, on the North Shore, in a very nice neighborhood of homes. I'll look up its name, if you're interested.

This is the place I was trying to remember, which is on the "west shore". We just happened across it one day and had a wonderful lunch sitting on their outdoor patio with lake view.

They also have lodging, if you're interested.

Sunnyside is THE place to go for lunch. :)

Janis, I hope to go back there someday What a setting!

We also like the Westshore Cafe, a little further down by Homewood.

Thanks so much for all your input. We have settled on North/West side. Now to narrow down all the possibilities!!

Three years in a row we stayed here in the winter and skied at the nearby areas. Our group was 8-9 adults. 3 bedrooms and a loft with two singles. Also a fold out couch on the landing. It was a great location. It had its quirks, but we did stay there three years in a row…
