Lake Tahoe Help!
Will be in Lake Tahoe for first time over New Year's. Staying in South Tahoe area--where to eat?--cool things to do?--we're a couple in mid twenties--appreciate anything you can offer--leaving soon!!!!

My husband and I lived in Sacramento in our mid-20s and visited Tahoe once it a while.
It's a small place and your options for eating and entertainment are fairly self-evident. Just go and explore - it's pretty easy and not overwhelming at all. |
It will pretty much be a zoo. So don't plan on eating anyplace special since they will very likely be booked up already.
Also - be pretty careful in the block+ long casino area on NYE. It gets totally mobbed and they close the highway to cars. Things can get out of hand. Where are you staying . . . . |
got last minute reservation at Timber Cove Lodge
|
is there a certain gathering place to go for a New Year's celebration?
|
The street between the casinos is the gathering place for New Year's. A cool place for dinner is the Sage Room at Harvey's. Think Dean Martin, steaks, flaming drinks. Very retro in a cool way. Must have reservations, though. It's a real hidden gem.

"the block+ long casino area" I mentioned is the same "The street between the casinos" that ag3046 mentions.
Again- that area is not for the faint of heart . . . . . |
just tried to get into Sage and they're booked. I know we are really doing this way too last minute!! any other ideas??
|
If the place is nice it will probably have been booked up already. Tahoe is a MAJOR NYE destination for most of northern California.
Just get to Tahoe and enjoy - don't count on a "special" meal - just enjoy the craziness . . . . . . |
