Lake Tahoe for Thanksgiving

My family of 4 will be in Lake Tahoe over Thanksgiving. Can you please recommend some restaurants that would be good for the Thanksgiving holiday? Evans is closed for the holiday. I spoke with somebody at Edgewood and they are only offering 3 entrees, none of which seem that appealing. You can't order off of their regular menu either. Thank you!

Lake Tahoe is a very big place. Where are you staying - so we don't recommend restaurants 45 min or an hour away.

Maybe Harrah's will have a buffet, also check out 19 Kitchen at Harvey's, we had a great dinner this past May, both are in South Lake Tahoe. ***kim*** ((#))

We are staying in South Tahoe at the Marriott Timber Lodge.

I'm sorry... I don't mean to take over your post but me and my husband are thinking of coming up to Lake Tahoe around Tahnksgiving too but I've heard it's mostly for skiers which neither one of us are.

Would the lake be frozen that time of year? are there other things to do/see besides skiing? What temperature can we expect?

Thanks... hope you have a great visit! :)

DS: there is often very little or no snow by Thanksgiving. All the ski resorts pray for snow so they can have a big holiday. and when that doesn't happen they start praying for snow by Christmas. And if that doesn't happen . . . .

Of course there can be snow at any time so you can't make bets one way or the other. There is tons to see/do w/o going near a ski lift. But no matter what the weather - it will be cold at night - you are at over 6000 feet after all.

ddpatrick7: sorry - can't help too much w/ southshore Thanksgiving dinner. Most of my fav's are at the north end of the lake.

You could try the Chart House to see what they are serving:

Also, in the Ridge Tahoe resort, The Hungry Bear should be serving Thanksgiving dinner:

I suggest making reservations as early as possible.

Some shoreline ice can be found each winter, I would not try to skate on it.

"Lake Tahoe never freezes!" :)

that's true - but the ground around the lake definitely does ;) (as do other lakes, ponds, streams etc in the area.

True, and FWIW, there's an ice skating rink AT the Marriott Timber Lodge.
