Lake Tahoe For Honeymoon

I'm going to Lake Tahoe in December for my honeymoon and we've never been there before. We want to stay at a nice hotel that is close to a lot of restaurants and fun things. Any suggestions on the nice places to stay at Lake Tahoe and some suggested things we should do on our trip?

In South LAke Tahoe I have stayed at the Embassy Suites many times, the Marriott Grand many times and other places a few times. I like both the Embassy & the Grand. The Grand is a timeshre so you get a kitchen. There is no restuarnts at the hotel but there are places to eat very near by.

The Grand was recently redone with all new carpet, upholstery and drapes. I didn't think it needed it but it looks really nice. The staff is great. Love the pool & outdoor jacuzzis. The units we've stayed in were huge. You have to valet park or self park in the city garage nearby for $23 for 24 hours or $1.50 per hour.

I like the Embassy because you get a made to order breakfast which is included, you can park free in the adjacent Harrahs lot, there is a happy hour included and it is also conveniently located to dining and other activities.

Are you into skiing and/or casino activities? These are about the only things going in December (and that's if it has snowed). Which you are most interested in would determine where you would want to stay.

Squaw Valley has a couple of fine hotels but is far from the casinos. The Hyatt in Incline Village is a nice hotel with some excellent restaurants nearby and a smaller ski resort up the hill. And, in South Shore, are the major casinos and the Heavenly Ski Area.

We plan on skiing a couple of days. I love to ski but my future wife isn't that crazy about it so we'll probably do a day at the spa also. I just need to make this a perfect trip.

Stay at Harrah's - great hotel and a very nice restaurant on the top floor.
