Lake Tahoe Early March

My friends and I are headed to shred the slopes in Tahoe. We are staying in Carson City (Yay Marriott Points). We are all advanced skiers that will probably look to hit as much powder as possible. None of us have been to the area before. We have a rental car. So here are my questions.

What mountains are best?
Does anyone know of any lift ticket deals?
We are in our early 20's. Where should we head at night?

Any and all support is greatly appreciated!

Your most challenging skiing will be at Squaw Valley in the north and Heavenly Valley in the south. Best views of the lake, Heavenly. Most family friendly (I know that's not what you're looking for), Northstar.

As for nightlife, I think Lake Tahoe is not the place to come for nightlife, unless good restaurants qualify. I guess there might be some entertainment in the casinos in South Lake or in Reno, but this is not Las Vegas (by a long shot).

Great info. By nightlife I meant great little spots whether it be for dinner, a micro brew, or some live music.

Has anyone heard about Snowfest that is going on during the first weekend in March?

Right now Shell stations are offering a two-for-one voucher for selected resorts with the purchase of $10 of gas.

Come to think of it, we got one of those coupons last weekend, and we're not going to use it (my DD works at Northstar, so she skis free, and when we get to go at all, my DH skis for free or half-price with her). If you want the coupon (assuming I can find it), email me at dm no space love no space 51 at gmail.

Very lively bar scene with quite good food and live music at the Bar of America in Truckee (the adjacent sit-down restaurant is called Pacific Crest -- you can eat from either menu in either room. The music and "scene" are on the bar side).

If there's any day you're not skiing, the best poke-around town is Truckee (very good shopping) and a great place to have breakfast or lunch is the Squeeze In. Be sure you share - one plate of french toast could serve three!

I assume all the ski areas have this, but we're most often at Northstar - live music for the after-ski crowd. Really fun, except in weather like we've been having this week (snowing like crazy in Tahoe, which means you should have great conditions).

Couple of tips -- do NOT speed in Truckee. And we once got a ticket because my husband had his brights on and forgot to turn them off in town!

Thanks for all the tips. Please keep them coming!
