lake powell float trip

can anyone tell me more about the lake powell float trips? i assume they are below lake powell on the river. i have river rafted before. is this a rough ride with classifications, like class I thru V of rapids. i am fine with most but my party is new to rafting. thank you so very much in advance.

The float trip is on the Colorado River below the dam and not on Lake Powell at all.

This is calm water. No rapids at all. They bus you down to the base of the Glen Canyon Dam, put you on motorized rafts to take you down the 14 miles of river to Lee's Ferry and then bus you back to Page, AZ. Unless you are under the age of 12 you don't have to wear life jackets, but they are there if you want them.

It's a lot of fun and very scenic!

Utahtea and others,

Could you comment on the Colorado River Float trip vs the boat trip to Rainbow Bridge on Lake Powell?

Rainbow Bridge is a full day and costs $100 pp. Thanks, Travelottie

I've done the Lake Powell boat trip and it was beautiful. One thing that I liked was that we were allowed to bring anything we wanted on the boat. I packed a cooler picnic with wine and everything.

I've done the boat tour to Rainbow Bridge twice and I love it. But keep in mind the two times we've done this the lake was high. The lake is low and now you have to hike approx. 3 miles round trip to see Rainbow Bridge. It gets HOT at Lake Powell...but this place is amazing!

Last time we were there we did the float trip and it was so much fun too. It's going to be hard to decide which one to do next time we are in the area...sorry :-d

We could take our lunch on the float trip and a lunch was provided both times we did the all day Rainbow Bridge tour. Both tours have lemonade and water...they don't want you to get dehyrated!
