lake placid new york
We are going to Lake Placid on August 9th for a week. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to pack.
|
Fold all your items nicely, put them in your luggage, close the luggage, and ALAS, you're packed!!!

You asked for it! :)
the weather in NY state is quite moderate, as a rule. Of course you should always google the weather before you go anywhere. Slightly chilly nights are a possibility...not cold. Casual dress unless you are staying somewhere that requires a tie - and I can't offhand think of any place like that. Nothing unusual about that area - except that it is lovely beyond words. have a great time! |
Extended forecast calls for mid 70's as high and mid 55's during evenings. Also, seems like good chance of showers, which will make it feel cold and damp. I have been to Lake Placid several times in August and the weather can be lovely or it can be soggy. Bring rain gear and warm clothes along with more traditional summer clothes and dress in layers, depending on your activites.
Don't know where you are staying, but a favorite place is the lobby of the Mirror Lake Inn on a rain afternoon. I think it is for guests, but allow the public too as their dining room and spa is open to public, so it would seem that you could sit a spell. They have firings roaring, lots of comfy old leather chairs and couches and rocking chairs on the porch. Oh, and they have THE most delicious chocolate chip cookies every afternoon [but I am thinking those are for guests only]. They even send you home with some in a bag when you check out. Debi |
I heard that rolling your clothes allows for more room.
Seriously, today it is close to 90 degrees and it's supposed to only get down to 70 at night. But...it could change in a day or two. Some strong storms are forecasted for tomorrow but the weather will still most likely be in at least the 70's. It can get very humid here which can make 73 feel like 93. I would pack shorts, etc. for the day and maybe a few warmer layering pieces for night. |
Okay, rolling with jersey knits - thanks for all the tips, especially on the weather (and Mirror Inn) - we are staying at a place called Northwoods Inn or something like that right in the middle of town -
