lake mead vs. lake powell

which do you recommend for a first time visit, one full day and night, for a relatively active mom, dad and daughter(9)?

lake powell attracts a lot of young party people - don't go on a long weekend. are you renting a house boat or just waundering around?

I have rented a jet boat from Lake Mead, which made for a fun day. You can ride all around, stop on the shore anywhere you like...of course, the horrific noise scares off any wildlife you might have seen, and I got a headache. It just depends on how you feel about jet boats! The little town--is it actually called Lake Mead?--has next to nothing to offer except quiet. A clean motel and a friendly family restaurant are IT.<BR>I haven't been to Lake Powell, but a friend of mine rented a houseboat there and had a good time.
