Lake Havasu Arizona
 

We are going to Las Vegas (1st time) Than thinking about to Lake Havasu at the end of February. Looking for info, advice. Just want to chill after Vegas. What do you think? Thank You

Lake Havasu is a wonderful place at that time of year with nice weather, compared to just about anywhere else. It is beautiful with the blue Colorado River flowing thru it. There are many dirt roads out of town, into the surrounding desert, which are very interesting also. I would recommend a 4WD though. Not a lot to do in the town, but the London Bridge area and the wildlife (birds mostly) are interesting. Enjoy!!

Thank You for the reply. I know I was kind of vague in my question. We are looking to sit by the pool, go to dinner at night , will the weather be warm enough for that? We are pretty laid back. Is there any shoppping around there? Thanks for any other info you can give. Karen

It's broken down by month. From my experience, Lake Havasu will be in the mid 70's during the day and in the mid 50's at night during your stay. The Lake water temperature might be a little chilly, but the pools are heated, so that won't be a problem. Also, there's an Indian Casino across the river from, and a ferry that takes off to it from the London Bridge, and, of course, Laughlin is about an hour drive north of there. Hope that helps.

There really isn't a whole lot to do in Lake Havasu, once you have visited the bridge area that is about it.
If you want to sit by a pool, have restaurants at night and do some shopping I would opt for Laughlin. They have the big hotels with resort pools, all kinds of restaurants and there is a fairly new outlet mall there as well.
Don't get me wrong about Havasu, it is nice and quiet, but unless you are on a boat there isn't too much to do.

Thank you for your responses. It has certainly helped. We are planning to stop in Laughlin on the way to Lake Havasu. I guess if we like it enough we may stay. May even do the 4x4 sightseeing. 18 days & counting. Tired of chicago weather. If anyone knows the names of any homey bars restaurants would love to know of them. Thanks again Fodies :)

In Havasu, there are several golf courses. There's a tour boat that goes around the lake. There's a seaplane tour. There's fishing from the dock or the boat. There's a ferry that takes you across the river to the indian casino. There's horseback riding, ATV tours, parasailing, PWC rentals, bumper boats, etc etc. On the same website as before, here's a photo tour of the town:

Go there and you'll see just how much there is to do.

Totally think Lake Havasu is about a 2 hour stop, but did like to see the huge fish gooble food at the pier. They are people trained.

Actually, I would take Oatman over L. Havasu myself. Try to get a trip to Oatman in, if it isn't too many hours or miles out of your way. The atmosphere is vintage there, much moreso than at Havasu, IMHO. And seeing the wild burros is a treat as well.
