Lake Erie, NY motel

Our family will be traveling along I-90 between Buffalo and Erie, PA this August. I'm looking for motel suggestions near the lake or close to the state parks on the lake (i.e. Lake Erie S.P. or Evangola S.P.). Are there any clean, Mom & Pop kind of places along this route (Route 5 or I-90) ? In searching, I'm just not finding much at all and I'm starting to think there aren't any!

Try looking in Fredonia & Dunkirk-smal towns about 1/2 way between Bflo and Erie, and on I-90. Also, you might want to check in the Chatauqua area. Its its own lake (Lake Chatauqua) and not too far away. there are several places there.

I'd suggest the Days Inn off I-90, Dunkirk/Fredonia exit. Went there a few times overnight before heading to Syracuse and the rooms were clean. Lake Erie Park was just a few miles down the road from this place.

Lake Chatauqua is a lovely area if you decide to stay overnight there.

Thanks so much for the suggestions. I've booked the Days Inn (ease of on/off I-90, close to lake for am stop/swim before hitting road again, and free breakfast for the 3 teenaged boys I'm traveling with). Still, I was hoping for something right on the lake -50's style cabins or such!

Well they do have those in Lake Chatauqua!! I would rather swim in Lake Chatauqua than Lake Erie!! Have fun. By the way, did you know it's only 80.5 miles from Buffalo to Erie? It's really not that far, so I'm not sure why you want to spend the night?

We're traveling from NH to OH for a college student drop off with stops in Cleveland and Sandusky. We've made the 13 hour trip several times without stopping. I was looking for a place to spend the night after a 10 or 11 hour ride. Next morning, we can make a quick stop for a swim in Lake Erie before heading to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The three teens and Dad do best if I mix long days with physical activity. I'm sure there are nicer lakes in the area and I'd love to explore some time when we have time.

Now I see why you are stopping!! Have a great time in Ohio. It's so much fun this time of year. I am going myself next weeek!!
