Lake Crescent vs Emerald Lake Lodge in field, BC
Hi, we will visit ONP in this early July. Quite a lot of postings here recommended Lake Crescent Lodge. I understand that staying at this place is not about the rooms. It's about the location. However, based all those reviews, the condition of that lodge rooms really concerns me. Since I have a little mysophobia, the room cleanness is very important to me. Just wondering how beautiful the lake crescent area is. If compare to Emerald Lake in field, BC, which place is more beautiful? Although we paid almost $300 per night stay at Emerald Lake Lodge, I think the Emerald Lake and the lodge itself are worth every penny, the Emerald Lake is just such a breathtaking place. If Lake Crescent has two-thirds of Emerald Lake's beauty, I would like to give that place a try. Thanks in advance!

I don't know anything about Emerald Lake Lodge, but Lake Crescent Lodge is a very rustic place.
It was good enough for Laura Bush a few years ago, but it may not be what you're looking for.
If you want to stay in a beautiful setting in Olympic National Park, Lake Crescent Lodge is the place to stay.
If you want to stay in Field, BC, then I guess you will stay at Emerald Lake Lodge.

It is not fancy, but I would go back again. We stayed in the lodge to save money. My husband hated sharing a bathroom. It reminded me of college. Ha! Our room was very clean. It looked better in person than it did on their website.
We had a wonderful meal in the restaurant.

Thank you for your response. The more I read lake crescent lodge reviews, the less temptation I have to stay there. Besides, seems to me, the lake crescent is quite a beautiful place but it probably can’t beat the emerald lake. I just booked a room in Best Western Olympic Lodge as our ONP base.

We saw Emerald Lake years ago, and haven't been to Lake Crescent for some time, but no, there is no comparison in scenic beauty. I don't think there are many places on earth that can compare with the beauty of Banff National Park or the vicinity.
I recall Emerald Lake had green glacial waters with rugged mountins jutting around it. I recall Lake Crescent as a very pretty blue lake with soft mountains around it.
With the exception of Hurricane Ridge, Olympic Nat. Park is not like Banff.
I don't think there is anything wrong with L. Crescent Lodge. We stayed in the cabins and yes, while it is rustic, it was clean and we had our own bathroom. It was a nice peaceful place to be. It is not Emerald Lake. If you go, don't be comparing them or you will find it lacking. Just enjoy it.

I looked up your Best Western in Port Angeles. It is completely different from staying at Lake Crescent. It looks like it is a nice hotel in a town, versus a historic hotel in a scenic spot. It's just a matter of where you want to be. For me, if I were visiting Olympic Nat. Park, I'd be staying at Lake Crescent Lodge, as I like to feel like I am in a park, and I don't like to feel like I'm in a hotel that could be Anywhere USA.

We have stayed at that Best Western in Port Angeles. We were very surprised at how nice it was. Definitely not your typical BW!
On our honeymoon years ago we stayed at Emerald Lake Lodge...what a beautiful place. CL is nice, but to me it just doesn't compare to EL, although it is probably because of the circumstances.

Many thanks to Orcas and mms. Your comments definitely help me have a better idea about the Lake Crescent area and the surrounding lodging. I'm really looking forward to my ONP and San Juan Islands trip in July!
