Lake Champlain or Stowe VT?

Planning a 3 night getaway for our anniversary in September and are considering these two places. Which would you choose and why? Also looking for lodging under $150/night.

Thanks.

I love Stowe Vt. It's a quaint little town with lots of restuarants and such.

I also recommend the Grey Fox Inn. Not too expensive but nice and their Dutch pancakes of 100+ varieties are to die for.

The Ben and Jerry's factory is not too far away and has a cute tour.

Which ever you choose, I'm sure you'll have fun.

I can't offer any personal advice on lodging....I always stay at my brother's house when I'm in the area.

However, I will suggest Stowe. It's a beautiful ski village with small shops and restaurants in old Vermont farmhouses, etc. There is a wonderful bike trail that goes past beasutiful wildflower fields, along a creek, pastures, with great views of Mt. Mansfield. You can rent bikes in the area. My brother and his wife often do an overnight thing at the Top Notch (might be $$$) or at Von Trapp Lodge. The Von Trapp Lodge was (it might still be in the family) built by the Von Trapp family of "Sound of Music" fame. The view from there is fantastic. I'm sure both places have a spa. Also in Stowe, you can drive - or hike - through Smuggler's Notch. I think you can also take the ski lift up to the top of Mt. Mansfield. You can drive, too. The road up there can bge a little scary, though!

Lake Champlain is very beautiful - and big! You've got views of the Adirondacks on one side and the Green Mts. on the other! You'll have to do some research. There's Burlington, but also many small towns around the lake on both the NY and VT side.

Have a great time!
