Lake Canroe Texas Retirement Haven??

Lake Canroe Texas was listed as retirement
haven in a trade magazine I receive. Low
cost housing, recreation with a 21,000 acre
man lake. Being so close to Houston with
the smog, hot summer weather and all the
other problems any comments from area
residents or travelers to Lake Canroe.

Lake Conroe is nice. My brother lived at April Sound and i use to drive 2 hours to see him every chance i could. Nice area. Don't really know about retiring there. I have some 60 something year old friends that love to go and stay the weekends there.

I can't comment on retiring there, but I have friends with homes near Lake Conroe. We have always enjoyed spending days on their boat with them. It seems to be a nice area. We like the small town of Willis, personally.

I also know people who have built cottages on Lake Livingston for retirement purposes, as well. Must be a draw, therefore worth checking out.
