Laguna Beach in December

We are planning on doing a day trip to San Diego and one to Disneyland and then spending the other two days chilling out in Laguna Beach.

Any ideas/tips/must see places while we are there? We aren't into long hikes, but don't mind visiting scenic places. I am thinking maybe a trip to Catalina Island?

Thanks

I live in San Diego, and frequently take out-of-town visitors to Laguna Beach and Dana Point. Such a beautiful area. In addition to Catalina, you might also like Dana Point Harbor--good place to take a stroll, have lunch, and do a bit of shopping. There's also Las Brisas restaurant in Laguna Beach, which is known for its stunningly beautiful views.

Catalina is nice, but it's an entire day trip - you'd catch a boat in San Pedro (Long Beach) and as I recall it is a long boat ride.

I think you'd probably enjoy Dana Point Harbor like walkabout mentioned.

Hi

Live in Laguna Beach.Catalina is ok not great beaches though. If you only have a few days I would just stay in the area plenty to do here. There are great hikes at the top of the world and you can see all of laguna, Also walking trails near El Morro Elementary School and Crystal Cove state Park. Private little beaches and coves throughout Laguna.

Restaurants: Lunch/Dinner-Nicks-great Halibut sandwich
Alessa-voted best meatballs in orange county
House of big fish and cold beer
kya-and rooftop bar great
Dinner-370 common-and you can bring a bottle of wine for free
Broadway-outstanding but expensive

Breakfast-Zinc
Penguin
La Sirena-the one in town great breakfast burrito

Where are you staying?

In december the sawdust festival is on again so depending when your coming you can go there. Do you have children with you? There is the pacific marine mammal center in laguna beach and its great to see sea lions etc.

rbj, what mid-price lodging do you suggest? We will be there in Nov.

Inn at laguna beach sometimes has specials so try it. Don't go to Hotel Laguna, except to the outside restaurant on the beach. This hotels rooms are seriously in need of refurbish. Also try Pacific Edge Hotel, the Art Hotel a little north,La Casa Del Camino. If you have starwood points there is a St. Regis in Monarch Beach down the road and a Marriott in Dana Point. My sister in law loves the best western laguna brisas.

DD was there last weekend and stayed at the Montage. I don't know if it would be considered mid-price for the area or not.

Thanks, rbj. I will look at those. Right nowvI reserved the Laguna Cliffs Inn. Know it?

kyb, the Montage is higher-end.

The Best Western Laguna Brisas looks perfect for us. Better than the other one we've reserved. Thanks, rbj!
