Laguardia to Mid-town Manhattan

What's the best way to get from Laguardia airport to mid-town Manhattan? Staying on west 49th. Thanks.

IMHO, the answer varies upon what your concept of "best" is.
If you don't mind the $)fare and have heavy luggage, a cab would be my first choice, as there seems to be no shortage of them at LGA.

If you have light luggage and are looking for the most economical route $), the M60 bus will get you into Manhattan (transfer to M104 southbound), however I would recommend transferring from M60 to N or W subway to get from Astoria (near LaGuardia)Queens to the 42nd Street subway station (in Manhattan).

Suggest picking up a metro card.:S-

Just be aware that these bus and subway lines are not any sort of "air train" effort - just basic commuter lines. The subways have stairs and there is no place to put luggage - except your lap or under your feet - on either bus or subway - and if you block the aisles the local commuters will not be happy.

A cab is $35 and takes 20-45 mins. You could also take a bus from the airport to Port Authority bus terminal (8th ave & 42 st) and from there take (+~$4). This only makes sense for 1 person. For 2 or more, you might as well cab it. I wouldn't do the regular bus/subway option. It's not designed for travelers with luggage. Here's a website with info

Cab: if you don't mind spending the money for convenience or you're 2 or more;
Bus to Port Authority: if you're alone, have some time to kill and don't mind riding a bus;
Bus/Subway: Only if you're broke.
