LaGuardia to Long Island

Saw the post re. LaGuardia to Manhattan and wondered if there was a way to get to Long Island easily from LaGuardia? I expect it's pretty expensive for a taxi - any easy way to get to the Long Island Railroad and go from there? Thanks.

The highway that one would take out to LI runs right past LaGuardia and I don't think it would be that expensive,of course-depends on which town on LI.Do you know the town?

It's actually fairly easy to get from LaGuardia to Long Island, it just depends on where you go. There are several private buses that go from LaGuardia to LI. Also you can take a taxi to a LIRR station and catch the LIRR. Tell us where in LI you are going and someone may be able to give specific details/price.

Thanks very much. I am going to Centerport which I believe is near Huntington. We'll be arriving at a busy time of the day (rush hour) and want to save my friends the trouble of picking us up. Appreciate the input.

If you can get a taxi to a nearby LIRR station, then check out the LIRR website for timetable and far information. <BR><BR>http://www.mta.nyc.ny.us/lirr/html/ttn/lirrtt.htm

I believe Huntington is exit 42-44? on the Long Island Expressway-40 is Jericho-and Huntington is past that...maybe this will help:)

Huntington is exit 49 of the LIE.

There is a New York Airport Service express bus that goes to the Jamaica station of the LIRR. The cost is $5 and it operates every hour on the half hour beginning at 7:30 am.

ok..for the directionally challenged, I assume once I get to the Jamaica station, I get the train AWAY from Manhattan ... any idea how far I would be going from Jamaica to say Huntington? Thanks very much.

Huntington is on the Port Jefferson line. It is about 9 stops and takes about 45 minutes from Jamaica<BR><BR>You can look at a map and schedule on the following website<BR><BR>http://www.mta.nyc.ny.us/lirr/index.html<BR><BR><BR><BR><BR>

Wow..you guys are very good! Now just one more question - where in the airport do you get that airport service that will take you from LaGuardia to the Jamaica station? and is it $5 per person? and finally do you have to reserve it in advance? Thanks!

Ther fare on the express bus service to the Jamaica station of the LIRR is $5.<BR> You can get transportation information at the main terminal between terminals A and B and between C and D. There are two transportation information locations at the US air terminal ( near either end) and one at the Delta terminal. You can find this information at www.panynj.gov/

Here's a website about the Airport Service<BR><BR><BR>http://www.nyairportservice.com/

What advice can you give for long-term parking at LaGuardia? Are there parking lots nearby which are cheaper than the lots at the aorport? Parking at hotel nearby? Park and ride? Thanks
