I'll say it again. Climbing to the top of the Miss Liberty is one of the worst wastes of time I've ever experienced on any of my travels. You wait two hours in line outside (unless you take the very first boat, like I did), then another hour inside the statue (with nothing but a view of the rear end of the person in front of you), then you spend a couple minutes of a very crowded and restricted view of Manhattan skyline.
I normally don't tell people to absolutely avoid a certain thing, but this is one of them. The effort involved to get to the top is NOWHERE near what you get.

While many of the knocks are not to far off, I personally enjoyed my experience of climbing the lady. However, I took the first ferry over and was actually the first person to reach the top that morning. Putting that aside, I would still have enjoyed the experience and am glad to say that I've been up in it and got to look out the crown. Sure, the view is not that great and climb is not a lot of fun, but hey- they tell me child birth isn't either. I say to each his/her own and Enjoy!
