LA WX in early Jan?
Coming out to the Rose bowl and staying a few days...what's the weather like in early January? I see the temps are highs around 67 lows in the high 50's but does it rain alot or is it generally sunny?

You've never heard the song?

"Seems it never rains in southern California
Seems I've often heard that kind of talk before
It never rains in California, but girl, don't they warn ya?
It pours, man, it pours"

Sorry, I couldn't resist after reading the I love Fodors thread.

It really rarely rains in southern California, and when it does it usually only lasts an hour or two. That said, it is possible it could rain all the days you are there in January. But it's also very possible you will have clear skies and temps in the 60s. I can't remember a Rose Parade in recent history when it was raining, anyone?

I agree. Rain is a possibility, but it's usually not too bad. And it definitely will be warmer in So. Cal. than most places in the US.

I go home to LA every January and I'm always happy with how warm and sunny it is in comparison to the east coast.

Have fun!

This is kind of funny, but it's been pouring all morning and by So. Cal standards, it's COLD>
Usually, however for the Rose Bowl, it's breezy and sunny, cool (not cold and bright) I think it's only rained a couple of times in the whole history of the parade.

Remember that this year the parade will be on January 1 as usual, but the football game (courtesy of the BCS) will be on Jan 3.

Bob, you can check weather.com, they have 10 day forecast. This is what I'll do before going to LA in mid-january for a sport event.
