LA with 12-year old granddaughter
We are taking our 12 year-old granddaughter to LA during the week after Easter. We've rented an apartment in Hancock Park. Would like advice on restaurants in the area that we could possibly walk to. Granddaughter is a vegetarian.
Also any suggestions for places to visit that would be interesting to a 12-year old girl. No Disneyland this trip. |
A fun tour I did with my daughter in LA last spring was the Great Foods Chocolate Tour of Beverly Hills. They take you to 6 different stores for chocolate tastings, e.g. cupcakes at Sprinkles, brownies at Beverly Hills Brownie Company, etc. At each stop, you might get a mini-tour (Edelweiss Chocolates) or a talk about how they make their chocolate goodies. We got discounted tickets for $25 through Living Social and I see that it's currently one of their deals. They also have a cupcake tour of Hollywood on offer. Here's a link to the chocolate tasting tour:

This episode is based on Edelweiss Chocolates, one of the places you visit on the tour. |
Thanks for the suggestion. We did a chocolate tasting tour in Paris with her older sister which was lots of fun.

L.A. Farmer's Market was started in 1934 has over 100 restaurants and food shops with abundant vegetarian options,p. Just off W. 3rd at The Grove is a very fun breakfast or lunch and stocking mission for future meals.

Hard to say what's in "walking distance" without knowing the cross streets nearby. Hopefully you'll have a car if you're staying in Hancock Park.

LACMA would be pretty cool.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Very helpful. Sorry to hear about the Peterson museum closure because it was on the list.
Still need suggestions for Hancock Park area restaurants, please. |
