LA weather in Oct/Nov
 

We are going on a south pacific cruise then returning to LA at the end of October. We are wanting to have a couple of weeks on the west coast after the cruise before returning to England. Is the weather good at that time of the year and where would be a good area to stay. We dont mind driving as we dont want to stay in Los Angeles itself.

According to weather.com, the average high/low for Los Angeles, CA in October is 26/16 degrees Celsius; for November, 23/12. If there's going to be any rain, it will probably be during that time period, but it's not English rain.

I'd recommend anywhere along the coastal beach cities, from Malibu to Laguna Beach. How much do you want to spend and how far away from Los Angeles proper do you want to be? What sorts of things would you like to do while you're in Southern California?

What are you interested in?
Do you want to visit Los Angeles at all? There might be a lot to do there depending upon your interests.

With a couple of weeks you could consider driving to Northern California, up Highway 1 to Big Sur etc and up to San Francisco, it's a pretty drive. It'll start getting cold by then but not unbearable.
You could also go south to our coastal cities, Laguna Beach, San Juan Capistrano, San Diego. The weather will most likely be better than going north but a little cold (for us anyway). San Diego is great at that time of year. It’s a perfect time to see the San Diego Zoo or Wild Animal Park. Although, last year in San Diego towards the end of Oct we had Santa Ana winds coupled with a huge fire. But by Halloween things have usually calmed down.

Many people seem to make a So. Cal loop that includes Las Vegas, not my thing but it’s worth mentioning. I think it’s a perfect time to visit the deserts in the Southwest if you’re looking for some beautiful hiking spots.

The weather is very pleasant in the LA area in October and November... plenty of sunshine - rain is unlikely - with daytime temps in the 70's and 80's and mild nights. Areas north and south of LA along the coast will be a little cooler but still very nice. In my opinion, it's the perfect time of year to visit.

October is usually absolutely <u>wonderful</u> anywhere along the CA coast and early Nov can be just as nice w/ clear crisp days (or even warm) and maybe <i>some</i> rain. In fact, sept/oct/nov is just about the very best season along the coast. Our main rainy season is Jan/Feb/Mar time.

You ask about LA but then say you don't want to stay there.

Do you mean to stay in Southern California or are you considering driving up the coast to Santa Barbara/Monterey/San Francisco?

With that much time, the classic drive up or down the coast of California would be recommended, and it's a great time of year for it with fabulous weather and off-season prices. If you're looking for just two weeks of relaxation, I'd pick Laguna Beach (Laguna Riviera Hotel) or Santa Barbara (Mason Beach Inn or The Eagle Inn)

Many thanks for your responses. I think we will head out of LA, probably south for the beaches. Laguna sounds pretty good.Weather sounds a lot better than we would have at home!
