Kennedy Space Center - tours?

Planning to visit Kennedy Space Center in April, and was just looking at the tours; kids are age 7, 12 and 13, so two of them would have to pay adult prices, which brings the total for that tour and admission to around 250 dollars. Is it worth it, or would it be just as interesting to visit KSC without the tour? That price does include the Astronaut Hall of Fame.

We visited in August with our 9 and 11 year old boys. We just bought the general admission, without any special tours, and it was more than enough. This price includes the bus tour of the grounds, which you should definitely take. My boys really enjoyed the day.

Tulips, the regular bus tour will come with your standard admission/maxiumum access pass, and is usually sufficient unless you're really, really, devoted to NASA. You'll see the Saturn 5 center and the space station area on the regular bus tour.

KSC has Imax movies, a rocket garden, the astronaut memorial, and lots of exhibits in addtion to the bus tour. Depending on your level of interest in these things, you may not have time to go to the hall of fame. If the hall of fame is a "can't miss" for you, be sure to get to KSC at opening, tour there, then go to hall of fame (it stays open usually about an hour later than KSC).

Save your money and do a self tour. Also, other things kids would enjoy--sometimes there is a man dressed up as an astronaut walking the grounds for photo ops, and you might see gators on the side of the road while riding the bus, and in the swamps surrounding the area that can be viewed from the telescopes at the tower.

Thank you for that information. I think we'll skip the in-depth tour, and just take the bus tour.
