LA-Pre-Cruise

I would like some advise on hotels, restaurants and sight seeing in the LA area. We are cruising on Jan 28, out of the World Cruise Termainal on Princess. We will be arriving on Friday Jan 27, 2006 at approx 11AM, at LAX.

Would like to know thoughts on where to stay and be able to take in some of the sights . Thanks.

What time is your cruise out on the 28th? You're planning to rent a car for the day, right?

First, I think that with Hertz you can rent at LAX and return near the cruise terminal and Hertz will drive you to the ship.

Secondly, you could stay just north of the airport in Marina Del Rey and have a short drive to sights such as the Getty Museum and Beverly hills...maybe take a drive up the coast a bit to Malibu for dinner. Or if the traffic is heavy, there are several dining choices in Marina Del Rey or you could stay for dinner at The Getty ($$$). The Best Western Jamaica Bay Inn and The Foghorn Hotel are basic...there is also a Marriott and a Courtyard in the Marina. Santa Monica is just a hop further north with several choices from moderate to luxury...just search "Santa Monica" in the search box above.

If you want a restaurant with the hollywood feel, try Yoshimora ( my spelling might be off). It's in the Hollywood hills overlooking the city. Food is good but a bit pricy. The view is great though.
