LA Hotels
This September my wife and I will be visiting Los Angeles for 2 nights (first time for both of us). I would like to get some recommendations as to which part of the city is the most interesting to stay for the first time visitors. P.S. We've already been to Santa Barbara and San Diego. Thank you.

If it's your first time in L.A., lots of people prefer to stay in Santa Monica. It was really depend what you're interested in seeing. But S.M is close to lots of things on the westside.

My wife and me have spent a few days in Doubletree hotel in Pasadena. Perfect! Ansd the old Pasadena is so pleasant and safe at night!

Santa Monica and Pasadena are kind of expensive. Recommendations for any additional areas are appreciated. Thank you.

Try Beverly Garland's Holiday Inn in NOrth Hollywood ...easy freeway access to studios as well as good surface access to Hollywood. Nearby Studio City has plenty of good restaurants for all budgets.

Worth a look to see if there are any hotel specials that work for you in the LA Area. http://www.findyourselfincalifornia.com/FindsRegions.asp?RegionID=7
September can be very hot in LA, and hot can mean smoggy, so I'd suggest the beach areas. Santa Monica can be expensive, but Marina del Rey has some affordable accommodation, as do the South Bay towns of Manhattan and Redondo Beach. I'd still suggest Santa Monica, though, even if you're spending a little extra on lodging - it's just two nights, anyway.

Maybe if you give us your price range and what type of activities you enjoy we can give you some better suggestions.

You can usually get a good rate at the Holiday Inn Bel Air if you have the entertainment card. And a decent rate with AAA. The hotel is very well located for exploring L.A., close to UCLA Westwood, restaurant row in Beverly Hills, Sunset Strip etc. Also easy to get to from LAX.

Free shuttle to the fabulous Getty Center museum which is a must. Really something to behold
