LA Hotel
 

I am looking for a hotel in LA that is close to Disneyland,Knots Berry Farm, and six flags.

what are some suggestions?

Disney and Knotts are close by, but Six Flags is about a 90 minute drive. Between the two is the Burbank North Hollywood area which is fine if you are also visiting Universal Studios Tours. You'd have about a 45 min ride to Disney and a 40 min ride to Six Flags.

Are you looking for a family suite/living room pullout sofa type of place? There are tons of choices near Disney and there is a Hampton Inn and a Comfort Inn up near Six Flags.

It sounds like you're headed to the greater Los Angeles area and are just planning to visit theme parks...!!

If you don't go to Six Flags Magic Mountain (and it has some great rides), there are tens of thousands of things you could do other than that. Maybe the kids would like a day away from theme parks-- hitting Melrose Ave., looking for music stars at the Guitar Center on Sunset, just people-watching in Venice or Santa Monica, surfing in Malibu or Huntington Beach, looking at the classic cars at the Petersen Auto Museum, checking out jaw-dropping vistas at the Getty Center, etc., etc., etc....

Disneyland has two parks...were you only scheduling one day for Disneyland? You could easily do two there, or three. Newport Beach is an easy drive from Anaheim/Disneyland if you'd like a day at the beach. Do you have a day scheduled to visit Hollywood/Los Angeles/ Beverly Hills? Because it's a full day trip if you're staying down near Disneyland, which is not in Los Angeles proper.

Teenagers love Santa Monica - great shopping, near the beach, good cafes...

Also with teenagers, walking on Sunset Blvd is entertaining, as is Beverly Hills.

If you are going with Teenagers, they will definitely like Magic Mountain (Six Flags) much more than Disneyland. But it's about an hour north of LA on Interstate-5.

Melissa, it's time to give you some Tough Love. You need to start actually consulting a wonderful tool called a MAP. These places are spread out in the greater LA area across two counties.

Six Flags Magic Mountain, Valencia, CA 91355 to Knott's Berry Farm, Buena Park, CA 90620: 57.4 miles according to Yahoo! Maps.

Six Flags Magic Mountain to Disneyland, Anaheim, CA 92802: 61.5 miles, Yahoo! Maps.

These are not short hops. They will all involve time on LA's famous freeway system. If you catch it on a bad day, a LOT of time.

No hotel is "close" to all three. The hotels around the Rathole will put you a few miles from Knott's. But you're a considerable distance from Magic Mountain. Universal Studios is a somewhat shorter 36 miles from Disneyland, but that's still a fair drive.

I think she just got confused...didn't know that "Magic Mountain" is the same as Six Flags.

Yes, Disneyland and Knotts Berry Farm are very close to one another, and Magic Mountain (Six Flags) is really far away. Something to consider: in August, Magic Mountain will be packed and really, really hot, probably over 100 degrees. I don't know how many days you have, but if it were me, I'd spend a couple of nights in Anaheim and a couple of nights in Santa Monica. Take that extra day and hang out at the beach. You will not regret it.

My cousin has been to the Six Flags in NJ (he lives in Delaware) and says the two are very similar.

You will be sweltering from two days at Disneyland and Knotts Berry Farm anyway, so you'll like the cool ocean breezes and the dip in the Pacific, which, by the way, is a completely different experience from a dip in the Atlantic.

Thanks I think that we will skip Magic Mountain and do Disneyland and Knotts berry farm.

I would like to be able to walk to Disneyland.

Yes, and with your price range I think you could stay at Paradise Pier (maybe even Disneyland hotel) on Disney property. Prices depend on your dates though. Also the Anabella, is walking distance. My daughter stayed there and loved it. The Anaheim Marriot, the Hilton, Sheraton Park & Sheraton Anaheim (my daughter liked that one too!). A little lower in price would be the Desert Palms Hotel and Suites, which I stayed at a couple years ago and liked.

Look on the Disney website for "good neighbor" hotels, the ones on Harbor are the closest to the park entrance, and you can walk from them. Some of the suite hotels are near Disney. Can't give a personal recommendation. Paradise Pier is not all that close, and not all that interesting.

Did you confirm that the Holiday Inn is in walking distance? I'd check on www.tripadvisor.com to see the reviews. Unless it's a Holiday Inn Express, some otf the Holiday Inn's are a little aging. Some have been renovated though.
FYI, my husband stayed at Disney's Paradise Pier, and said it was a 5 minute or less walk to Downtown Disney which is right in between both Cal Adventure and Disneyland.

Yes, do check Tripadvisor. I don't think the Holiday Inn is near Harbor. The closest hotels to the entrance are those like Park Inn, Best Western Park Place, etc. Harbor is on the EAST side of the park, there should be a map on the Disney website showing the location of the good neighbor hotels.

Paradise Pier is about 4x as far as the Harbor Ave hotels if you are walking. You can use the monorail to enter Disneyland but not California Adventure.

I looked at the web site and got the Best Western.

Back to Paradise Pier, my husband re-said it was right next to the Disneyland Hotel, and just a few minutes walk to downtown disney. Oh well, I guess I'll have to go see for myself, LOL.

The only Holiday Inn I have seen ariund Disney is the one on Harbor and Ball across the 5 frwom Disney. Yes, you could walk, but there are so many other hotels so much closer. On the Disney property there are Paradise Pier, Disneyland Hotel and Grand Californian (upscale and nice) and across Katella from Disney there are a number of hotels including the Marriott and Hilton. Along Harbor in front of Disney there are many hotels and motels and the one friends have stayed at and loved is the Candy Cane Inn. It is right outside the gates and they had a suite and said it was wonderful - also very reasonable. Have a great trip!!!
