LA Greyline Tours
My husband and I are considering taking a Greyline Tour in Los Angeles this summer. We are considering the 9 hour Grand City Tour or the city half day tour. Please comment on any tours you may have been on in LA like this or your general experiences on Greyline Tours. (We will only be in LA for one day, so we wanted to see as much of the city as possible.) Thanks for your help! Cindy

I have found greyline tours to be very entertaining for short stays in cities and as the introduction to cities during longer vacations. We have used Greyline in San Francisco, Montreal, NY, Quebec, Niagara Falls, and LA. I have taken the full day LA tour and have virtually no complaints about the pacing and sites that are visited. The tour stops at several key points and allows a brief 10 to 15 minute visit... that to me was perfect for seeing things like Manns Theatre, LaBrea tar pits... If you like to linger at tour stops you may get frustrated by the constant on/off bus situation. They also drive-by several sites without stopping, but often, they are just things to see from the road and you wouldn't stop in your car anyway. The drivers are part of the entertainment and there commentary and insights make the trip fun and informative... They also stop for lunch at the LA City Market and that can be fun, buying from the various booths and stalls. We are going back to LA in July and will be taking our teenage kids on the Full Day so maybe we'll see you on the bus...

First of all it's Gray Line Tours. Gray Line isn't to be confused wih Greyhound buses.
A city sightseeing tour is a perfect way to get an overview of any city you visit. If you do this right away you will get a history and look at the city and you can decide what sights you want to go back to and spend more time at. |
Thanks so much for the information garyt22 and kkj! It sounds like you have a lot of experience with the tours. We are still considering which tour to take, but we will take your comments under advisement!

I was in Los Angeles for 4 days last August and stayed in Aneheim. I took a LA city tour booked through this website http://www.allanaheimtours.com/Body....tour=ANA-B0002 .
The tour was actually on a Coach USA bus and I found the tour to be very good. Customers are picked up outside their Anaheim hotel and taken to the main depot. You checkin at the depot and board the bus relevant to your tour. I used this company as it was convenient for me to stay in the one hotel and take in the likes of the Disneyland area, LA and Sea world San Diego. You seem to be accommodating in LA, but thought I'd mention this option. Have a nice trip. |
