La Brea Tar Pits Los Angeles
 

Anybody visited Page museum in Los Angeles? Are the Tar Pits worth visiting or is it a tourist's trap? Is there a tour of the place or you are on your own? Thanks in advance!

Oh it's a trap alright but I don't know about a tourist trap. Hey, it's not an attraction that you'll remember to your grave but it's kind of cool and worth the trip. Don't think there's a tour, but if I remember correctly there were things to read along the way that explains it all to you.

La Brea isn't a tourist trap. It takes just a few minutes to view by yourself. Personally, I would skip it, but you may enjoy it if you don't stay too long. Haven't been to the Page Museum in LA, but the Pits are near Museum row.<BR>

Actually the La Brea tar pits, are something worth seeing at least once, but you won't need to spend all day in them. Fortunately the Tar Pits, are right next to Museum Square in the Miracle Mile District...Where I happen to be sitting right now. <BR>You can visit the car museum, and Many nice art museums, plus a craft museum. There are also several nice, not to expensive restaurants in the area, Callendars in Museum Square being one. And owing to the Tar Pits, close proximaty to the Fairfax district, you should definately stop in at Farmer's Market..(two blocks North on 3rd) great restaurants and shopping. <BR>

Hi1 If you have kids..the Tar Pits are a MUST. If you are adults only, it's up to you.

I went to the Tar Pits on a school trip 20 years ago and never ever forgot it. I went again as an adult recently and was enchanted by it as I was a child. Having visited 4 continents and seen the great treasures of the world, I think the Tar Pits are my absolute, most favorite attraction anywhere in the world. <BR> <BR>If you're short on time, you can really appreciate it within an hour. Make sure you see the poor sparrows and pigeons stuck, much like the wooly mammoths thousands of years ago. I wonder if someday their remains will be on display too.
