LA area hotels
I'm looking for suggestions on what area to stay in the Hollywood or northern LA area. I've been told that some areas are not where tourists feel comfortable. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

My friends stayed at the Hollywood Roosevelt which is directly across the street from the Chinese theatre. The hotel was restored a few years ago and the lobby is Spanish mission style, with plenty of terracotta tiles and exposed beams. The CINEGRILL nightclub features cabaret entertainment; usually jazz or pop. The hotel has a good location as you are close to the county museuem, not far from Beverly Hills, and right on the footsteps of the the stars. The seedier parts of Hollywood are east of the hotel. I don't know the prices, but it's worth investigating.

How much are you looking to spend per night? (2ND. TRY)

I prefer hotels on Sunset (the Wyndham Bellage is a little tired, but less expensive alternative). Try the following for cheap reservations in the area:
www.quikbook.com

Thanks for the replies. I've tried to respond a number of times and for some reason I couldn't get it through. I've made reservations at Sheraton Universal, since Universal is something on our agenda.
